Driver (Non-Emergency Medical Transport)

*We are looking for 2-3 drivers to join the team who could work one of the following shifts:

• Mon-Fri 5AM to 2PM
• Mon-Fri 7AM to 4PM
• Mon-Fri 2PM to 10PM (sometimes as late as midnight)
• Tuesday / Thursday + (Optional) Weekends

Join our dynamic team as a Driver specializing in Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT), where your driving skills and compassionate customer service will make a meaningful difference in people's lives. In this vital role, you'll safely transport clients to medical appointments, therapy sessions, and other essential destinations, ensuring comfort, punctuality, and safety at every step. This position offers an exciting opportunity to utilize your driving expertise while providing a critical service that promotes health and well-being within the community.

Duties

• Display empathy, kindness, and respect to passengers at all times
• Safely operate a wheelchair-accessible minivan
• Assist passengers with boarding and disembarking, ensuring their comfort and safety throughout the journey.
• Push individuals in wheelchairs up a ramp into the vehicle and secure them using the in-vehicle securement system (Q-Straint)
• Perform no-lift horizontal transfers to move patients from a hospital bed into a stretcher
• Maintain cleanliness and basic maintenance of vehicles, including routine inspections and reporting any issues promptly.
• Communicate clearly with dispatchers, clients, and healthcare providers to coordinate schedules and address any special needs or concerns.
• Follow all traffic laws, safety regulations, and company policies to ensure secure transportation at all times.
• Occasional medium / heavy lifting when assisting clients with mobility devices or luggage while adhering to proper safety procedures.

Hiring Requirements

• Valid Drivers License
• No more than 1 moving vehicle violation (ticket) in the last 7 years
• No at-fault accidents on record
• At least 25 years old
• Able to pass random and pre-hire drug testing
• Able to push wheelchair passengers weighing up to 300 lbs up a ramp into the vehicle
• Able to transfer passengers weighing up to 300 lbs from a hospital bed into a stretcher, utilizing a roll-board and no-lift horizontal transfer techniques

Potential Relevant Experience

• NEMT Stretcher Operator, Fire Fighter, EMT, Paramedic
• Elder care and/or working with seniors
• Physical Therapy or Rehab Technicians
• Professional driving / passenger transportation
• Prior experience with heavy lifting or assisting passengers with mobility challenges is a plus.

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
