Driver Retention, Training & Development Supervisor

Position Summary

Trucking Proz is seeking a Driver Retention, Training & Development Supervisor to develop, implement, and lead our driver onboarding, training and retention initiatives. This is a newly created position that will play a critical role in building a best-in-class driver experience while supporting company growth and operational excellence.

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the driver hiring process, conducting new driver orientation, developing and maintaining training programs, ensuring, and implementing strategies that improve driver satisfaction and retention. This individual will work closely with Operations, Safety, and the Recruitment Coordinator to create a positive and professional culture that attracts and retains high-quality drivers.

Recruitment & Hiring

  • Manage and oversee qualified driver leads generated by the Recruitment Coordinator.
  • Screen, interview, and evaluate prospective driver candidates.
  • Verify employment history, qualifications, and hiring requirements.
  • Coordinate hiring decisions and facilitate the onboarding process.
  • Partner with management to identify staffing needs and recruitment strategies.
  • Track recruiting metrics and recommend process improvements.

Driver Orientation & Training

  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve the company’s driver orientation program.
  • Conduct new driver orientation sessions and onboarding activities.
  • Create and maintain training materials, manuals, and standard operating procedures.
  • Ensure new drivers understand company policies, safety standards, customer expectations, and operational procedures.
  • Identify ongoing training needs and coordinate refresher training programs.
  • Promote a culture of safety, professionalism, and continuous improvement.

Driver Retention & Engagement

  • Develop and implement driver retention strategies to improve driver satisfaction and reduce turnover.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for driver concerns and feedback.
  • Conduct stay interviews, exit interviews, and retention surveys.
  • Identify trends impacting driver morale and recommend corrective actions.
  • Develop driver recognition and engagement programs.
  • Foster a positive company culture that supports driver success and professional growth.

Qualifications

Required

3+ years of experience in transportation, logistics, recruiting, driver management, safety, training, or a related field.

Strong knowledge of trucking industry operations and driver-related regulations.

Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.

Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office and transportation management software.

Preferred

Experience developing driver orientation and training programs.

Experience in driver recruitment and retention.

Knowledge of FMCSA and DOT compliance requirements.

Leadership or supervisory experience.

CDL or transportation industry certifications are a plus.

Reporting Structure

Reports to: Director of Operations / Executive Leadership Team

Pay: $60,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
