Driver Supervisor

Driver Supervisor
Summary:
This role is to be responsible for training and assessing drivers and their qualifications as per driving laws. This position will coach drivers on safety, HOS, and best driving practices and software equipment to adhere company standards. Act as the liaison between the company and the driving by constant communication and problem solving.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Participates in the discipline and termination process of drivers in accordance with company policy.
  • Train and onboard new hires.
  • Evaluating driver’s performance and providing feedback.
  • Helping resolve driver’s issues and disputes.
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Responsible in conducting driving exams for potential drivers.
  • Provides training to drivers according to the company’s needs.
  • Provides necessary orientation to new drivers.
  • Address driver communications and provide required data to drivers.
  • Develop amiable, genuine, and supportive relations with drivers on a personal and professional level and collaborate with other departments to solve their problems.
  • Coordinates transportation and overnight stays for drivers that may need assistance on the road.
  • Monitor drivers’ hours in coordination with Dispatching to achieve maximum productivity in given hours. (If Applicable)
  • Coach and train drivers with low performance, such as utilizing hours of service, safety violations, systems utilization, and bad driving practices.
  • Calculates monthly and weekly performance bonus for drivers.
  • Provides support to HR department in retention of drivers.
  • Assists in the assignation of units when necessary.
  • Other activities as assigned.
Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 2 years of verifiable CDL Driving experience.
  • Knowledge of Samsara (preferred)
Competencies:
  • Verbal communication skills.
  • Decision making and initiative.
  • Schedule availability.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations.
  • Knowledge of FMCA rules and regulations, safe driving, hours of service, inspection, and maintenance of equipment.
  • Fluent in English/Spanish.
  • Experience in Dispatching a big plus.
Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting while driving.
  • Must be able to lift to 15 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to pass a DOT physical.
Additional eligibility requirements:
  • Have a valid Class A CDL.
