Job Overview:

We are seeking a dependable Transportation Specialist (Driver) to join our NEMT team. In this role, you will be responsible for providing safe and comfortable transportation for our clients to their medical appointments. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent driving skills, strong customer service, and the ability to assist passengers with special needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safe Transportation: Safely transport clients to and from medical appointments, ensuring a smooth and timely journey.
  • Customer Assistance: Provide friendly and respectful assistance to clients, including helping with mobility aids or getting in and out of the vehicle as needed.
  • Route Planning: Use navigation tools to determine the most efficient routes, ensuring timely arrivals for medical appointments.
  • Vehicle Maintenance: Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure it is in good working condition. Report any maintenance issues or safety concerns to management.
  • Documentation: Complete and submit trip logs and other required documentation, ensuring accurate records of each trip, including client information, times, and locations.
  • Compliance: Adhere to all company policies and safety regulations, including traffic laws, vehicle maintenance, and NEMT-specific guidelines.
  • Client Communication: Confirm appointments and pickup details with clients, ensuring they are informed about the transportation arrangements.
  • Problem-Solving: Address any unexpected issues, such as delays or route changes, and communicate effectively with both clients and the dispatch team to resolve them.
  • Emergency Response: Be prepared to handle emergencies and know the proper procedures in case of accidents or medical incidents during transportation.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: Previous experience in a driving or customer service role preferred. Experience in NEMT or working with individuals with mobility issues is a plus.
  • Skills:
  • Excellent driving record with a valid driver’s license.
  • Strong customer service skills and a compassionate, patient demeanor.
  • Ability to navigate using GPS and paper maps.
  • Ability to assist passengers with mobility issues and special needs.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
  • Certifications: Clean driving record, background check, and any necessary local certifications for NEMT services.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit and drive for extended periods.
  • Ability to assist clients with getting in and out of vehicles.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 25 lbs (e.g., helping with mobility devices).
  • Ability to push clients in wheelchairs up ramps.
