Driver/Laborer

Overview:

Supports the Town of Littleton's Road Commissioner in daily tasks, including but not limited to maintaining town ways, maintaining equipment, and snow plowing. (Pay commensurate with experience.)

Job Responsibilities and Requirements:

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Performs duties under supervision and within well established guidelines.
• Assist Road Commissioner in the construction and maintenance of municipal roads, drainage systems, and Transfer Station.
• Assist in repairing streets and drainage systems, repairing ditches, landscaping and tree/branch cutting and removal, culvert repair and replacement, and the placement and removal of street signs and decorations as required.
• Clear brush, loose obstructions and road debris, including dead animals from Town ways.
• Plow Town ways with winter crew.

EDUCATION

• High school diploma/GED

REQUIREMENTS

• CDL Class B
• Ability to work as part of a team in the completion of projects and regular tasks.

EXPERIENCE

• Technical training preferred
• Road and road drainage construction project experience preferred
• Snow plowing and sanding operation experience preferred
• Basic mechanical experience a plus

Or any equivalent combination of experience and training related to the job duties and responsibilities.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Able to work in various positions that require bending, walking, standing, sitting, lying on one’s back, kneeling, crawling, twisting, squatting, etc.
• Able to perform movements that require working with one’s hands extended above and below one’s head, extended from one’s body, and using hand tools.
• Able to lift 50 lbs. in standing and bending positions and carry said weight while walking distances of 10 ft. or more.
• Able to work on ladders, catwalks, and supports.
• Specific vision requirements of this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
