Driver/Transportation

Reports to: Transportation Director and Administrator

Position overview:

Patient drivers are responsible for providing safe care to clients and seeing that the clients’ needs are taken care of. The main function is to drive clients safely to and from home and appointments. Client safety is of primary consideration. Sincere interest in and respect for elderly and/or disabled persons is expected. They are responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

1. Safe driving of clients;

2. Assisting clients appropriately on and off vehicles, including wheelchair use and into building, seated.

3. Maintain documentation as required, including daily vehicle checks;

4. Understand and compliant with state regulations regarding transportation;

5. Seat belts applied to self and clients;

6. Required vehicle documentation, first aid kit, and fire extinguisher maintained in van; always carry driver’s license.

7. Keep vehicle clean and unobstructed;

8. Maintain time schedule for transportation and appointments;

9. Assisting clients with their Activities of Daily Living such as personal hygiene, ambulation, transfers, feeding, and toileting as needed;

10. Under the guidance of a professional staff member, will provide kitchen help. This includes safely serving food to clients and maintaining the highest sanitary standards in the kitchen;

11. Reports any client problems to appropriate professional; report any unusual event to the Administrator; report patient problems to Nurse.

12. Carry other duties as assigned.

Job Type: Full-time - IN PERSON

GUJARATI, HINDI, AND ENGLISH SPEAKING PREFERRED.

Pay: $16 per hour

Shift:

  • 8 hour shift - 40 hours per week.

License/Certification:

  • Driver's License (Required) for NJ
  • Background check will be done prior to hire.
