Position Title: Dropout Recovery Program Coordinator [S.O.A.R Center]
Department: Peoria Flex Academy | Educational Services

Term of Employment: 245 Day Calendar
Salary Classification: Administrative Salary Schedule (dropout recovery program funded)
The Dropout Recovery Program Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and overseeing the Peoria Unified dropout recovery program, ensuring that students who have left traditional educational settings are re-engaged and supported in completing their educational goals. This role involves working closely with students, teachers, counselors, school personnel and community organizations to facilitate the recovery process, provide support, and ensure that students remain on track to graduate.
Key Responsibilities:

Program Management:
-
Oversee and manage the dropout recovery program, including enrollment, progress tracking, and student outcomes

Develop and implement strategies to engage and retain students who are at risk of dropping out

Design and implement a seamless alternative pathway for district, charter and private schools to the SOAR Center once all other interventions have been exhausted

Ensure students have access to the necessary resources (academic support, counseling, tutoring, etc.) to succeed

Student Support:
-
Provide individualized support to students to help them transition back into school and stay on track to graduate
-
Work with students to identify academic, social, or personal challenges that may affect their success, and connect them with appropriate resources
-
Facilitate mentorship or peer support programs to motivate and guide students
-
Staff Collaboration:
-
Work with teachers, counselors, and other school staff to create personalized learning plans for students

Provide training and professional development opportunities for staff involved in the dropout recovery program
-
Foster communication between families, schools, and community organizations to ensure a supportive network for students

Data Monitoring & Reporting:
-
Ensure alignment of program success to Arizona's Alternative A-F Accountability System
-
Track student progress, attendance, and academic performance to ensure that recovery goals are being met
-
Analyze data to identify trends and barriers affecting student success and make recommendations for program adjustments

Prepare regular reports for school administrators, board members, and other stakeholders on the success and challenges of the program

Work with Peoria Flex Academy administration to prepare and host ADE annual monitoring and collaborate for annual alternative education application submission

Community Outreach:
-
Build relationships with community organizations, employers, and social services to create partnerships that support student success

Develop outreach strategies to recruit students into the recovery program and raise awareness about the program's availability

Administrative Tasks:
-
Ensure that all program activities comply with district, state, and federal regulations.

Responsible for selection, training and evaluation of certified and classified staff within the DRP program

Manage program budgets, resources, and other administrative duties

Oversee standardized tests required by federal and state law (i.e. ACT, AzSci, Civics, CPR)
Minimum Qualifications:
-
Master's degree in education, school counseling, or related field
-
Experience in educational administration, dropout prevention, and/or youth development
-
Knowledge of applicable federal, state, county and city statutes (relating to schools operating a Dropout Recovery Program [DRP]), district and departmental rules, policies and procedures
-
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with students, families, and staff
-
Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
-
Familiarity with data management and student performance tracking systems
-
Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
-
Excellent problem solving and negotiation skills with ability to prioritize program issues
Preferred Qualifications:
-
Current possession or eligibility prior to appointment for an Arizona Principal Certificate
-
Knowledge of best practices in dropout recovery and alternative education programs
-
Experience working with at-risk youth or in non-traditional educational settings
Other Requirements:

Must possess or obtain an Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.

Must be able to pass a background clearance check.

Must obtain and maintain a valid government issued ID / driver's license
-
May be required to lift and carry heavy, bulky supplies and materials weighing up to 20 pounds

Typically works in a school or community-based setting
-
Occasional evening or weekend hours may be required for outreach activities or meetings

May be required to travel to perform work functions
