Drug & Alcohol Collector

In this role, you will be responsible for collecting and processing drug and alcohol specimens with precision, ensuring compliance with all legal and procedural standards. Duties

  • Specimen Collection:
  • Perform urine, saliva, or hair sample collection following strict protocols and chain of custody requirements.
  • Monitor and supervise collections to prevent tampering or substitution.
  • Ensure specimens are sealed and labelled correctly.
  • Compliance & Documentation:
  • Follow federal guidelines (such as DOT regulations) and internal procedures for drug testing collections.
  • Complete necessary forms and chain of custody documents accurately.
  • Ensure calibration log book of Breath Alcohol Device is maintained at all times.
  • Ensure that all paperwork is submitted promptly and correctly to laboratories and/or employers.
  • Client Interaction:
  • Answer all phone calls and return calls if missed.
  • Daily checking of emails and responding to all of them.
  • Maintain a professional demeanour while interacting with donors, clients, and employers.
  • Provide instructions to donors and answer questions regarding the collection process. Ensure confidentiality and respect for donors throughout the process.
  • Specimen Handling and Shipping:
  • Properly package and prepare specimens for transport to certified laboratories every day.
  • Maintain and monitor specimen storage conditions when needed.
  • Quality Control and Reporting:
  • Identify and report any collection issues or irregularities.
  • Follow safety protocols to prevent contamination or exposure.
  • Ensure adherence to alcohol screening procedures when required.
  • Administrative Tasks:
  • Invoicing in QuickBooks or excel sheet to be completed by the end of every week.
  • Order, maintain inventory of collection supplies/office supplies/pantry supplies and restock as needed.
  • Ensuring office is clean and trash is removed from dustbins daily.
  • Outdoor Collection (if required on ad hoc basis)

Requirements

  • Proven experience in specimen collection, is required but not compulsory
  • Knowledge of drug testing and specimen handling required
  • Familiarity with laboratory management systems and documentation standards for chain-of-custody procedures
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain procedures clearly and maintain professionalism under pressure

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $14.00 - $15.00 per hour
