About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Drupal Backend Developer to join our team in a fully remote environment. This role is ideal for a developer who has strong experience building and supporting modern Drupal applications, enjoys solving complex technical challenges, and can work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative development team.

The ideal candidate brings deep hands-on experience with Drupal 11, custom module development, secure coding practices, and backend architecture. This person should also be comfortable contributing in a team-based Git workflow, reviewing merge requests, troubleshooting issues efficiently, and engaging directly with clients to provide thoughtful feedback on deliverables.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, maintain, and enhance backend functionality for Drupal 11 applications
  • Build and support custom Drupal 11 modules based on project requirements
  • Apply strong knowledge of Drupal architecture, APIs, and commonly used modules to create scalable solutions
  • Identify and address security vulnerabilities, code quality concerns, and performance issues
  • Collaborate with developers through Git-based workflows, including forks, branching strategies, pull/merge requests, and conflict resolution
  • Review merge requests and provide constructive technical feedback to support code quality and team standards
  • Manage and work within DDEV Docker-based local development environments
  • Debug issues efficiently using tools and practices such as Xdebug
  • Write and maintain automated tests using Cypress and PHPUnit
  • Support Drupal implementations that incorporate Web Components and progressively decoupled architectures
  • Assist with integrating React applications into Drupal environments where needed
  • Collaborate with team members, project managers, and clients in a remote setting
  • Participate in meetings, provide status updates, and offer feedback on technical deliverables

Required Qualifications

  • US Citizenship REQUIRED.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Drupal 11 concepts, architecture, APIs, and common modules
  • Hands-on experience with Drupal 11 custom module development
  • Strong ability to recognize and resolve security and performance issues in code
  • Experience developing collaboratively in Git repositories, including forks, branching workflows, and merge conflict resolution
  • Experience reviewing and commenting on merge requests
  • Experience working with DDEV and Docker-based local development environments
  • Strong debugging skills, including experience with tools such as Xdebug
  • Comfortable writing and maintaining Cypress and PHPUnit tests
  • Proven success working remotely in team environments, both collaboratively and independently
  • Comfortable using VS Code or PHPStorm, along with Jira, Confluence, Slack, Zoom, and Microsoft Teams
  • Ability to interact professionally with clients and provide clear, useful feedback on deliverables

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with integrating Web Components into Drupal themes
  • Familiarity with React and frontend integration concepts
  • Experience with progressively decoupled Drupal architectures
  • Experience integrating React applications within Drupal
  • Familiarity with search technologies such as Solr or Google Vertex AI Search
