Dry Dock Superintendent

As Dry Dock Superintendent at ZMI Holdings , you will manage the dry dock schedule to ensure efficient execution of scope of work, spare arrangements, and service provider coordination. You will oversee repairs to maintain vessel integrity, ensure fleet availability to meet client commitments, and support the Technical Department in daily fleet operations. Detailed responsibilities are as follows:


  • Develop the annual dry-docking schedule in line with regulations.
  • Prepare and manage the annual dry dock budget.
  • Coordinate the implementation of the dry-docking schedule.
  • Establish a system to capture repair and maintenance requirements.
  • Review and validate the repair/maintenance list with the Senior Technical Superintendent.
  • Adjust schedules to incorporate equipment overhauls and statutory surveys where applicable.
  • Inspect vessels to confirm the dry-docking work list.
  • Liaise with all parties to ensure timely availability of spare parts.
  • Administer dry-docking contracts and ensure compliance with terms and conditions.
  • Monitor and supervise all repair works and variations during dry docking.
  • Document and share lessons learned from each docking.
  • Participate in the identification and technical evaluation of service providers.
  • Track daily progress and performance of docking repairs.
  • Ensure all dry-docking work is completed safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively.
  • Drive continuous improvement in vessel technical performance standards.
  • Identify technical problems and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain required systems, standards, and documentation as per company and client requirements.
  • Work closely with the Technical Superintendent to ensure smooth repair operations.
  • Coordinate with Procurement & Supply Chain to secure spare parts and supplies.
  • Provide reports, feedback, and updates to the Technical Director, and ensure follow-up on instructions and recommendations.


Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Mechanical or Marine Engineering or related field
  • Proven experience 3 – 6 years sea experience as Chief Engineer
  • Several years’ experience as Technical Superintendent in similar role in ships administration, technical, operation, repairs and maintenance
  • Fluency with Microsoft Software and Engineer Software
  • Familiarity with ISO/ISM systems
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
