DSP (Direct Support Professional)

Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide essential support and care to seniors and individuals with developmental disabilities and other special needs. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for those they assist, promoting independence, and ensuring a safe and supportive environment. This position requires a commitment to fostering positive relationships and empowering individuals to achieve their personal goals.

Duties

• Assist clients with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and household tasks.
• Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance the well-being of individuals in care.
• Monitor and document client progress, behaviors, and any changes in health status.
• Implement individualized care plans tailored to each client's needs.
• Facilitate social interactions and community engagement opportunities for clients.
• Assist with medication management as required.
• Ensure a safe living environment by adhering to health and safety protocols.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals, family members, and other caregivers to coordinate care effectively.

Requirements

• Experience in assisted living, hospice care, home health, or nursing home settings is preferred.
• Familiarity with working with individuals on the autism spectrum or those with developmental disabilities is highly desirable.
• First aid certification is a plus; willingness to obtain certification if not currently held.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with clients and their families.
• Ability to perform patient monitoring tasks effectively.
• Cooking skills are beneficial for meal preparation duties.
• A compassionate nature with a genuine desire to help others achieve their best quality of life.
• Must be able to pass background checks as required by state regulations.
