Duke's Malibu Server

We are looking for skilled SERVERS to join the Duke’s Malibu team! The starting rate is $17.27/hr plus tips (The combined rate is ~$30-$45/hour). We are especially looking for candidates with weekend availability. A minimum of three days of availability is required. Candidates with open availability is preferred. Other scheduling availability is subject to review upon application.

HOW TO BE SUCCESSFUL

  • Assist in preparing restaurant for service.
  • Greet all guests and co-workers in a warm, personal, friendly manner.
  • Review menus with guests and answer questions about menu items, offering descriptions and making recommendations. Inform guests of daily specials including pricing if not listed on the menu. Explain how various menu items are prepared, describing ingredients and cooking methods.
  • Follow T S protocol and inform manager on duty for all noted guest allergies.
  • Take guests' food and beverage orders and enter orders into computers for transmittal to kitchen staff.
  • Check guests' identification to ensure they meet minimum age requirements for consumption of alcohol.
  • Serve food and beverages to guests, taking extra care to perform any additional table-side preparation or service as required.
  • Describe and recommend wines to guests; bring selection to table with appropriate glasses and pour.
  • Check with guests to ensure that they are enjoying their meals and take action to correct any problems.
  • Remove dishes and glasses from tables, and take them to kitchen for cleaning. Prepare table for next guest.
  • Prepare certain hot and cold non-alcoholic beverages for guests.
  • Perform food preparation duties as required such as preparing side salads and desserts. Garnish and decorate dishes in preparation for serving as required.
  • Prepare and present guest checks, ensuring any special requests are followed (such as split checks), and collect corresponding payments.
  • Assist the entire service team throughout meal period to ensure all guest expectations are exceeded.
  • Stock service areas with supplies such as coffee, food, tableware, and linens.
  • Fill salt, pepper, sugar, cream, condiment, and napkin containers.
  • Must be dependable, report to work as scheduled and on time, and follow all policies regarding scheduling and attendance. Regular attendance is an essential function of this job.
  • Work in a safe manner and report any safety concerns; personal, employee or guest injury.
  • Follow food safety program guidelines of handwashing, bare hands, hygiene and health.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

The role of SERVER is essential to the success of our restaurant. Provide the highest level of service to our guests by being responsible for all preparation, interaction, and steps of service needed to exceed guest expectations in the restaurant. We are looking for SERVERS that share our values of continuous improvement, pride in our employees, serving our communities, ‘ohana, and most of all FUN.

PREFERRED / REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • US Work Authorization Required. We use E-Verify to confirm Employment Eligibility Verification.
  • Reliable transportation required.
  • Experience: Six months to one year related experience
  • Computer Skills: Experience with Point of Sale System.
  • Certificates & Licenses: Must take and pass all training tests 90% or higher.
  • California Food Handler Certificate - Must be obtained within 30 days from hire date. Training provided if applicant does not have a valid California Food Handler Certificate.
  • Responsible Beverage Service Certificate - Must be obtained within 30 days from hire date. Training provided if applicant does not have a valid RBS Certification.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Sense of Sound (Hear verbal requests by guests, coworkers, and managers)

  • Vision (Near, Distance, Color, Peripheral, Depth Perception)
  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) (Non Slip shoes, back belt if lifting over 20lbs, safety glove when using knife)
