As one of the largest woven textile mills in the world, Valdese Weavers designs and manufactures residential and contract-grade fabrics for furniture manufacturers, fabric distributors, and large retailers.
Job Summary: Assisting The Lab Tier X on the development of new and existing shades.
Tools and Equipment needed: Adaptive recipe, lab schedule, pH meters, Spectro Color eye, pipettes, pipette bulbs, and scales.
Essential Functions:

Maintain dye lab production according to established standard operating procedures.

Check frequently all machines to ensure they are operating properly. Report all mechanical problems to the Lab Tier X and Dyehouse Manager.

Weigh and mix dyes and chemicals.

Complete daily shift reports
-
Work scheduled overtime when necessary.
-
Perform other duties as assigned.

When no work is available in the lab, the technician will be assigned to the Dyehouse production team.

Check Dyes and chemicals to ensure that new chemicals and dyes match the existing standard before using them in production.

Check yarns to compare a new shipment of yarn to existing yarn to ensure equal dyeing capabilities.

Reformulating and rechecking production formulas for better quality and cost purposes.

Assist in developing new colors.

Meet deadlines and production quotas.

Maintain all equipment to the highest possible standards with the help of the maintenance team.

Follow instructions from the Lab Trier X and Dyehouse Manager.

Be able to fill in for Dyehouse floor technicians when needed.

Operate the Spectrometer to read existing and new shades.

Be able to work on Standard folder maintenance when needed.

Mount sample on run card when needed.

File folders back in the Dyehouse office as needed.
Safety:

Safely perform all duties following guidelines established by Valdese Weavers.

Report all job-related injuries and safety hazards to the supervisor as soon as possible.

Actively participate in safety programs that identify, investigate, and correct safety hazards.

Maintain 5S standards and ensure standards are met daily.

Earplugs, safety shoes, and any other PPE as required by SDS.
Qualifications:

Reading, writing, and math skills

Previous Lab experience

Shade matching and adjustment experience

Must pass test for colorblindness
-
Textile management experience

Color management experience
-
Good communication skills with the ability to work well with others.

Knowledge of industry standards.
