Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated, nature loving teacher with an outgoing, bubbly personality to join our team on-site in Tucker, GA! Candidates will have experience teaching children ages 7-13 and will be adaptable to our multi-age, nature- based program possessing ability to spark children's inner curiosity and desire to learn. A degree in early childhood education/ experience OR a bachelor's degree AND experience as a homeschool educator in a co-op /hybrid school is required for this position. A strong commitment to fostering a nurturing and stimulating learning environment is a must. You will be responsible for developing and implementing engaging lesson plans for multi-age whole group instruction that are in line with our pedagogy while guiding students in their academic and social development and collaborating with parents and staff to ensure the best outcomes for each child. This is a 1099 position. Reports to Director.

This position is 15 hours (M-W), from 9:30 AM to 2:30 PM, beginning asap

Responsibilities

  • Lesson planning and assisting with organizational development are KEY to this position.
  • Develop and implement lesson plans differentiated to encompass whole group instruction in a multi-age setting that align with our pedagogical standards.
  • Create a positive classroom environment that encourages student participation and fosters a love for learning.
  • Effectively utilize the Program Assistant to facilitate multi-group instruction
  • Assess student progress through appropriate evaluation methods, providing feedback to director.
  • Collaborate with other team members to enhance the curriculum and share best practices in teaching methodologies.
  • Supervise classroom activities, ensuring the safety and well-being of all students.
  • Provide support for children with special education needs, adapting lessons as necessary to accommodate diverse learning styles.
  • Maintain open communication with parents regarding their child's progress, behavior, and any concerns that may arise.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities to stay current with educational trends and practices including research of our pedagogy and the work of Dr. Ross Greene, Piaget, Maria Montessori, and Peter Gray.

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of childcare principles and early childhood education practices.
  • Experience with Waldorf, Charlotte Mason, or an eclectic homeschool approach philosophies is preferred. Our program is comprehensively SECULAR.
  • Understanding of homeschooling and ability to work with multi-age students
  • Ability to create engaging lesson plans that incorporate various subjects such as math, literacy, and social studies that differentiate for multi-age learners
  • Familiarity with homeschool or hybrid school settings is advantageous.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective interaction with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Ability to incorporate art into lessons including drawing, watercolors, and other seasonal craft projects. Students use a portfolio method to compile their assignments throughout the year.
  • A compassionate approach towards teaching that recognizes the individual needs of each child.
