Dyslexic Tutor/Specialist

Do you want to make a difference in a person’s life? The Dyslexic Group is a family-owned business that specializes in tutoring dyslexic children and adults using evidence based proven methods. This position would be ideal for a university student or a retired teacher.

We tutor children and adults in 1:1 individualized instruction in reading, spelling, (dyslexia) handwriting (dysgraphia) and math (dyscalculia). The position is a part-time position at our Phoenix location. Optimally, we would like a person who is familiar with dyslexia, either as a previous tutor, a parent of a dyslexic or a dyslexic themselves.

The requirements of this position would include:

  • 1:1 tutoring following Susan Barton Reading and Spelling System
  • Integration of a variety of other standardized programs and activities that support 1:1 tutoring.
  • Data entry for client’s schedule, progress
  • Regular communication with the parents or client
  • Complete required professional development training

Skills:

  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Collaborate with the executive directors
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to communicate with parents
  • Ability to problem solve
  • Ability to be flexible with individualized tutoring as no dyslexic student is the same

Training:

The Dyslexic Group does require 15 hours of training prior to being scheduled for the first tutoring session. Training is provided on site and is paid.

Additional information:

Susan Barton Reading and Spelling System certification is preferred but not required.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour
