Role Overview

Mello Cannabis is seeking an experienced Ecommerce Manager to join the team initially in a consultant capacity, with the potential to transition into a full-time role based on performance, business needs, and mutual alignment. This role will own and grow Mello’s online sales channel across our Massachusetts recreational dispensary and cultivation operations.

The Ecommerce Manager will be responsible for driving website performance, digital marketing, and home delivery growth, with ownership of ecommerce performance metrics and contribution to P&L outcomes, while operating fully within Massachusetts cannabis regulations.

Role Profile

  • Title: Ecommerce Manager
  • Engagement Type: Consultant (with potential to convert to full-time)
  • Experience: 5–7 years in ecommerce and/or digital marketing, including 3+ years owning or co-owning ecommerce KPIs
  • Cannabis Experience: Strong plus but not required; must be comfortable operating in a highly regulated environment and learning cannabis regulations quickly

Key ResponsibilitiesEcommerce Performance & P&L Ownership

  • Own and drive online sales performance, including revenue, conversion rate, average order value, customer acquisition, and home delivery growth
  • Manage the ecommerce P&L, including forecasting, budgeting, and profitability tracking
  • Monitor and optimize CAC, ROAS, and channel contribution margins
  • Make data-driven allocation decisions across marketing and promotional channels

Analytics & Optimization

  • Analyze website, marketing, and customer data (e.g., GA4, ecommerce platform reporting, CRM tools) to identify trends and opportunities
  • Diagnose performance issues and develop structured tests and initiatives
  • Design, execute, and evaluate A/B tests and experiments across traffic, conversion, and merchandising

Growth Initiatives

  • Increase new customer traffic and first-time purchases
  • Improve onsite conversion, cart completion, and repeat purchase behavior
  • Expand home delivery volume and delivery-area penetration

Menu & Merchandising Management

  • Oversee online product menu management, ensuring accurate, compliant listings, pricing, inventory status, and categorization
  • Optimize digital merchandising through upsells, cross-sells, featured products, bundles, and promotions
  • Ensure a seamless experience for both in-store pickup and delivery customers

Digital Marketing & SEO

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive SEO strategy, including on-page, technical, local SEO, and menu optimization
  • Coordinate compliant paid media, email/SMS, and social campaigns to drive qualified traffic and orders
  • Manage a promotions calendar aligned with store events, product launches, and cultivation cycles

Content & Brand Execution

  • Brief, coordinate, and distribute digital content (site banners, landing pages, educational content, email/SMS copy)
  • Ensure consistent brand voice, visual standards, and compliant messaging across all digital touchpoints

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner closely with retail operations to align online menus, inventory availability, and promotions
  • Collaborate with delivery operations to optimize delivery zones, time slots, and customer experience
  • Work with cultivation and production teams to feature priority SKUs, new strains, and inventory needs

Reporting & Leadership Communication

  • Build and maintain KPI dashboards for leadership
  • Deliver clear performance updates, insights, and recommendations
  • Conduct post-mortems on campaigns and tests to inform future strategy

Compliance

  • Maintain full compliance with Massachusetts cannabis marketing, ecommerce, and advertising regulations
  • Work closely with compliance and operations teams to mitigate risk and ensure regulatory alignment

Required Qualifications

  • 5–7 years of ecommerce and digital marketing experience with a proven record of driving online revenue growth
  • Hands-on experience with:
  • Web analytics and attribution tools (e.g., GA4 or similar)
  • Ecommerce platforms and digital menu/catalog management
  • SEO best practices and at least one additional major channel (email/SMS, paid search, paid social, or ordering platforms)
  • Demonstrated ability to:
  • Build and interpret performance dashboards and funnels
  • Translate data into actionable insights and prioritized roadmaps
  • Experience managing ecommerce or marketing budgets and making ROI-based decisions
  • Strong cross-functional communication skills and comfort working with operations and leadership teams
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment with end-to-end ownership

Pay: $60.00 - $70.00 per hour

Expected hours: 10.0 – 20.0 per week

Work Location: Hybrid remote in Haverhill, MA 01830
