Sidwell Friends School, a coeducational Quaker day school, seeks substitute teachers for the Early Childhood Learning Center (ECLC), located on its Bethesda, MD campus. The ECLC is a small facility serving children of Sidwell Friends School faculty and staff. Currently, the Center has an infant room (up to 6 infants) and toddler/twos room (up to 9 students).

Responsibilities:

Ideally, the candidate will:

  • Create a warm, loving and safe environment for mobile infants/toddlers
  • Create an engaging atmosphere and develop meaningful activities and experiences for toddlers and twos
  • Be able to interact and play with the children at their physical level
  • Design activities that are child initiated, and cover physical, social/emotional, linguistic, and cognitive development
  • Communicate with families
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge and Skills

  • Strong attention to detail and demonstrated organizational skills.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize while working independently
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all Family members.
  • Experience working with diverse populations.
  • Understanding computer system operations, specifically Outlook, Google, and Microsoft Office applications.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • At least 1 year of experience (preferred)
  • Must meet all State of Maryland requirements.
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills, flexibility, patience, and enthusiasm for working with students (Infants and Toddlers).

Compensation

  • Hourly Rate $18.00-$24.00. Hourly rate commensurate with experience and qualifications.
