Early Childhood Prevention Specialist/Case Manager uses a Trauma Competent approach that promotes resiliency while providing consultation and early intervention support to early childhood age children and childcare staff in the classroom setting as well as and families and behavioral health case management to assigned clients. Prevention will be delivered through evidenced based programming in group settings. Specialist/CM collaborates with schools, community organizations, individuals and families to provide information and awareness. Specialist/CM plans and implements evidenced based programs to a targeted demographic. Specialist/CM will meet the productivity requirement of the agency.
Case Manager Responsibilities:
Initial and ongoing assessment of needs
Assist with accessing natural support systems in the community; Link to formal services/systems, advocacy and outreach
Coordinate and/or assist in crisis management and stabilization as needed
Educate and train specific to the individual’s assessed needs, abilities and readiness to learn
Utilize interventions that address symptoms, behaviors, thought processes, etc., that assist an individual in eliminating barriers to seeking or maintaining education and employment
Activities that increase the individual’s capacity to positively impact his/her own environment
Early Childhood Prevention Specialist Responsibilities:
Plan and facilitate prevention programming through evidenced based curriculum
Collect and submit outcome instruments and evaluation data
Facilitate skills development groups and activities
Direct Service Responsibilities:
Classroom observations, consultation and teacher coaching utilizing framework of child development as it relates to social-emotional development
Role model developmentally appropriate activities for children and effective ways to work with and support young children
Provide written and oral observations and strengths-based feedback to classrooms and assist with implementation of interventions
Develop and/or facilitate childcare staff training.
Implement strength-based resiliency and skill building prevention curriculum for indicated and/or selected population in assigned early childhood programs
Develop and facilitate parent-child events to support social/emotional development and parent education around behavior management, resiliency and prevention.
Provide parent consultations and strengthen parent involvement.
Provide coordination and referral to community services, as needed.
Act as an advocate for young children, their families and childcare providers.

Participate in program specific trainings and updates as needed and/or required
Document services and activities and submit data as required
Attend individual/group supervision and required meetings
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
The successful applicant for this position shall have minimum high school diploma with bachelor’s degree preferred, at lease 21 years of age and have at least 6 months experience working with young children; experience in working with groups and ability to work well with many different types of people; possess a valid driver's license, a good driving record, the ability to drive to homes and other community locations, and automotive liability insurance. This person must meet the background screening as defined in OAC code 5101:2-5-09. Demonstrates consideration, understanding and humility for the diversity of the children and families served by Pathway. Demonstrates knowledge of working with children and families as part of diverse family systems.
