Early Childhood Teacher

Summary

St. James Preschool (Littleton, CO) is seeking a Preschool Teacher with ECT qualifications for our 3 year old preschool classroom. This will be a co-teacher position. Candidates must have experience working with preschoolers and have a passion for teaching and supporting children in all domains of their development.
Teachers are responsible for planning and implementing a developmentally appropriate, investigative curriculum within a loving faith-based environment. Fostering positive social/emotional development, critical thinking and problem-solving skills are priorities.
St. James uses Creative Curriculum, Conscious Discipline and The Pyramid Model as the foundational pieces of our preschool curriculum. We believe in the play-based model of early childhood education. We know that play is the process and learning is the outcome. Our smaller class sizes encourage individual attention in a nurturing environment.
Our preschool is open from September through May. We follow the Littleton Public School schedule for breaks during the year. The hours for teachers are 9:00 AM to 2:30 PM. Pay is commensurate with experience and education. Starting pay is between $18-$22 per hour.

Duties

• Coordinate and implement educational curriculum by developing classroom activities based on developmentally appropriate practices
• Plan individual and group age-appropriate activities to actively engage children and encourage social, cognitive and emotional growth.
• Maintain frequent communications with parents through informal discussions, parent-teacher conferences and weekly connection letters
• Ensure all center policies and state regulations are met.
• Ensure a healthy classroom environment – including maintaining appropriate hygiene and cleanliness standards and safety and security of children.
• Maintain accurate records, forms and files
Attend monthly staff and planning meetings

Requirements

• Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills.
• Ability to work well with others (staff, children, and parents) and to foster a team environment.
• A strong understanding of child development.
• Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification.
• Must clear full background check and must pass health screening.
• ECT qualified through PDIS
• Previous teaching experience in ECE

Nice To Haves

• Associates Degree or higher in ECE or related field
• Experience with Creative Curriculum, Conscious Discipline and Pyramid Model

Our program runs from 9:30 am – 1:30 pm Monday through Friday, and we offer 2 day, 3 day, and 5 day options for families.
