Job Title: Early Childhood Teacher Specialist

Department: Early Childhood

Supervisor: Early Childhood Administrator

Lane Placement: Licensed

Schedule: 186 days

Evaluation Group: CTESS

FLSA Classification: Non - Exempt

This position is for the 2026-27 school year, and will begin on August 10, 2026

Requires Early Childhood Special Education License


JOB DESCRIPTION

Early Childhood Teacher Specialists provide support and expertise to teachers, administrators, and parents regarding the implementation of IDEA, best instructional practices, evidence-based curriculum, interventions, assessment, and behavior supports with young children. They are available to problem-solve, mentor/coach, attend IEP meetings, and are a crucial part of the Early Childhood Department. Early Childhood Special Education licensure required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Provide professional development and coaching to ECSE teachers and related service providers
  • Ensure compliance with IDEA policies and procedures
  • Ensure fidelity of implementation of evidence based curriculum
  • Participate as LEA in IEP meetings
  • Bridge communication between teachers, parents, agencies, and district administration
  • Have knowledge of appropriate early childhood assessment measures and analysis of data
  • Assist in developing and providing training to paraeducators
  • Provide expertise in instructional strategies, behavioral strategies, and assistive technology
  • Advocate for ECSE teachers and the rights of students with disabilities
  • Coach on the analysis of student data to determine implications for interventions and placement in the least restrictive environment for kindergarten settings
  • Complete other tasks/assignments at the direction of the EC Administrator
  • Have in depth knowledge of IDEA regulations
  • Possess the ability to organize and attend to detail
  • Possess the ability to collaborate and mentor
  • Possess excellent interpersonal skills
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Predictable and reliable attendance

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • While performing the duties of this job, the specialist is regularly required to speak and/or hear.
  • The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, or crouch.
  • The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
  • Requires ability to operate motor vehicles.

NOTE: The Administration reserves the right to require specific training for this position. However, depending upon the type and quality of prior work experience and availability of formal training programs, some exchanges can be made between training and experience.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS-Not limited to the following:
