Early Learning Services Specialist

Analyze, plan, develop, and facilitate the design and delivery of early literacy programming, services and outreach that support families and children from birth to age 5, along with preschools, daycare providers, and community agencies; provide staff and partner training; facilitate outreach activities and programming with staff and outside agencies.

The omission of specific duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related or a logical assignment to the position.)Plan, manage, organize, and deliver programs to educational institutions, governmental partners, and community agencies.Facilitate the design and delivery of early literacy-related programming for staff, caregivers, children, and community agencies in Sacramento County and the City of Sacramento.Conduct outreach activities for early learning related organizations, including, but not limited to, preschools, daycare providers, regional educational service districts, homeschool cooperatives and educational conferences, coordinate outreach activities and program delivery with staff.Act as liaison and primary contact for service providers for children from birth to age 5 within the Sacramento Public Library service area.Work with Library staff to develop and implement best practices for serving children from birth to age 5 and their families.Facilitate relationships between staff and educational institutions, governmental partners, and community agencies.Identify challenges in delivery of services and recommend solutions.Coordinate development of customized age and reading-level-appropriate book collections (bibliographies) and webliographies for children from birth to age 5. Coordinate development of technology and media programming for early learners.Promote the Library within service area; represent the library to other agencies and organizations.Plan, develop, and present formal and informal presentations.Develop, prepare, and maintain reports, summaries, files and databases.Develop and deliver training regarding effective early literacy programming and outreach for Library staff.Travel throughout the Sacramento area.Perform other related duties as assigned.
