Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced East Asia Issues Expert to provide strategic analysis and policy insights on East Asian geopolitical, economic, and security developments. This part-time consulting role requires deep expertise in international relations, regional dynamics, and the regulatory frameworks that shape East Asian affairs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze political, economic, and security trends across East Asia, with focus on regional powers and emerging markets
  • Provide strategic assessments on bilateral and multilateral relationships affecting defense, trade, and international cooperation
  • Monitor policy developments, international agreements, and regulatory changes impacting the region
  • Deliver concise briefings and reports on East Asian issues for client decision-making
  • Advise on geopolitical risks and opportunities in defense, security, and cross-sector markets
  • Contribute to research projects examining East Asian international relations and regional integration

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in International Relations, International Law, Macro Economics, Political Science, Asian Studies, or related field
  • Expertise: Strong understanding of East Asian international relations, regional security architecture, and diplomatic frameworks
  • Knowledge: Proficiency in international law, trade regulations, and multilateral institutions (UN, WTO, ASEAN, etc.)
  • Analysis: Demonstrated ability to synthesize complex geopolitical information and provide actionable insights
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills for professional reporting

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in relevant field
  • Professional experience in policy research, international organizations, think tanks, or government agencies
  • Language proficiency in Mandarin, Japanese, Korean, or other East Asian languages
  • Published research or analysis on East Asian affairs
  • Experience working with defense, security, or consulting organizations

Work Arrangement

  • Schedule: Flexible part-time hours (project-based consulting)
  • Location: Remote work available
  • Compensation: $100/hour, negotiable based on experience and expertise
