United Exchange Corporation (UEC) is a leading manufacturer and marketer of Health & Beauty Care (HBC), Over-the-Counter (OTC), personal care, and private label products serving major retailers and wholesalers, and c-stores throughout North America. We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Sales Manager to lead growth initiatives across the Eastern United States.
This position offers an exciting opportunity to drive revenue growth, expand distribution, develop strategic customer relationships, and manage broker networks within a dynamic and growing organization.
Position Summary
The Sales Manager will be responsible for managing and growing UEC's business within the Eastern Territory across drug retail, grocery, discount retail, wholesale, and private label channels. The ideal candidate possesses strong industry knowledge, established relationships with key retail buyers, experience managing broker organizations, and a proven track record of driving sales growth in HBC and OTC categories.
Key Responsibilities
Sales Growth & Business Development
- Develop and execute territory sales strategies to achieve and exceed annual revenue and profit objectives.
- Identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities within drug retail, grocery, discount retail, wholesale, and private label channels.
- Expand distribution into new markets and customer segments where UEC currently has limited or no presence.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key retail buyers, category managers, distributors, and wholesalers.
HBC & OTC Category Leadership
- Maintain a strong working knowledge of the Health & Beauty Care (HBC) and OTC marketplace.
- Understand branded, controlled-label, and private label business models and market dynamics.
- Monitor industry trends, competitive activity, and category opportunities to identify growth initiatives.
Broker Management
- Recruit, manage, train, and evaluate broker representatives throughout the territory.
- Conduct product knowledge training sessions to ensure brokers fully understand UEC's product portfolio, specifications, shipment requirements, and selling strategies.
- Establish quarterly and annual sales objectives for broker organizations and monitor performance against targets.
- Provide coaching, direction, and corrective action plans when objectives are not being met.
- Maintain regular communication with broker partners regarding product launches, promotions, pricing, and sales initiatives.
Customer Management
- Maintain regular contact with assigned customers through monthly phone or email communication and quarterly in-person business reviews.
- Prepare and present quotations, proposals, presentations, and private label opportunities in a timely manner.
- Maintain accurate account files, customer correspondence, pricing records, and sales documentation.
- Ensure proper customer onboarding by obtaining all required financial and operational documentation for credit and accounts receivable processing.
Field Execution & Travel
- Travel throughout the territory to conduct sales calls, customer meetings, broker visits, trade shows, and store audits.
- Perform retail store checks to ensure authorized distribution, merchandising compliance, and product availability.
- Represent UEC at industry trade shows and customer events.
Reporting & Communication
- Provide weekly updates to management regarding sales activities, customer opportunities, competitive intelligence, and business performance.
- Submit weekly meeting schedules, objectives, and post-call reports.
- Communicate customer feedback regarding product quality, service levels, inventory concerns, and sales projections.
- Collaborate with internal departments including Marketing, Operations, Customer Service, Supply Chain, Finance, and Product Development to support customer requirements and business growth.
QualificationsRequired
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or related field preferred.
- 10+ years of sales experience within HBC, OTC, consumer products, grocery, drug retail, wholesale, or private label industries.
- Proven success managing retail accounts and broker networks.
- Strong understanding of retailer category management and merchandising practices.
- Experience presenting to buyers and negotiating business agreements.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
- Strong organizational and project management abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM systems. (Netsuite and Monday.com preferred)
- Ability to travel extensively throughout the Eastern United States.
Preferred
- Existing relationships with major retailers, wholesalers, and distributors.
- Experience with private label product development and commercialization.
- Knowledge of consumer health, personal care, and OTC categories.
