ob Title: E‑commerce Automation Test Engineer (Shopping Projects)
Summary:
Responsible for designing, developing, and executing automated tests for e‑commerce shopping platforms to ensure smooth user journeys across product browsing, cart, checkout, payment, and order management flows. The role involves building and maintaining automation frameworks (preferably Selenium with Java or similar), reducing manual effort, and supporting frequent releases in an agile environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts for core shopping flows: product listing, search, filters, cart, coupons, checkout, payment gateway, orders, returns, and refunds.
- Identify test cases suitable for automation, prepare automation test plans, and ensure high regression coverage for web and/or mobile e‑commerce applications.
- Configure and work with automation frameworks and tools (e.g., Selenium WebDriver with Java, TestNG/JUnit, Maven/Gradle, CI tools like Jenkins) for continuous testing.
- Execute automated test suites, analyze failures, log detailed defects, and work closely with developers, business analysts, and manual testers to resolve issues.
- Validate integration points such as payment gateways, third‑party APIs, inventory, shipping, and notifications (email/SMS/push) in shopping projects.
- Participate in sprint planning, refinement, and reviews, providing effort estimates and test impact analysis for new e‑commerce features.
Required Skills and Experience
- 2–5 years of experience in automation testing, with at least 1–2 years in e‑commerce or retail shopping domain. Candidates with stronger domain exposure can be considered for senior levels.
- Strong hands‑on experience with Selenium WebDriver and a programming language such as Java (preferred), C#, or Python, including writing robust, reusable page‑object or BDD‑style test scripts.
- Experience testing e‑commerce features like catalog, cart, coupons, checkout, payment, and order lifecycle, including positive, negative, and edge cases.
- Good understanding of QA concepts: functional, regression, integration, cross‑browser, and basic performance checks for high‑traffic shopping events (sales, festivals, campaigns).
- Familiarity with bug tracking and collaboration tools (e.g., JIRA or similar) and CI/CD pipelines such as Jenkins or equivalent.
- Strong analytical, communication, and documentation skills; ability to clearly describe e‑commerce flows and defects to stakeholders.
Preferred / Good to Have
- Experience with mobile app automation for shopping apps using Appium or similar tools.
- Knowledge of API testing tools (Postman or similar) for validating backend services supporting cart, orders, and payments.
- Exposure to performance or load testing concepts for peak‑load e‑commerce scenarios (flash sales, festival offers).
