Economics Intern

AFBF Summer Internship Program Overview:

We are pleased to offer an internship program for six of the nation’s best and brightest future leaders in agriculture.

The AFBF internship program provides university students with an immersive opportunity to develop professional skills, explore agricultural industry dynamics, and gain hands-on experience through an 8–10-week engagement with our organization. Interns will develop a comprehensive understanding of association operations while building meaningful workplace competencies.

Throughout the program, participants will network with colleagues and senior executives through targeted educational and professional development activities.

This internship is scheduled to run from the week of May 26th to the week of August 3rd. It’s preferred that interns start no later than June 1st.

Interns will be based at our Washington, DC office, working on-site four days per week with the option to telework on Fridays.

All AFBF’s interns will be paid an hourly rate of $19.00 per hour and are responsible for their own housing.

Role Description:

The Economics Intern will assist AFBF Economists, and the greater Public Policy department, with research and analysis of topics such as trade policy, crop and livestock markets, agricultural policy, environmental policy, farm income, agriculture labor, and rural development. Responsibilities include collecting and analyzing data, conducting issues-based research, and preparing briefings and reports. The ideal candidate should have completed at least their sophomore year of undergraduate coursework, majoring in agricultural economics or a related field. Strong Microsoft Excel and writing skills are essential. This internship is suitable for both undergraduate and graduate students.
