EcoShield Waste Yard Manager

Job Summary:

EcoShield Waste is hiring a Yard Manager for our Okeechobee, Deerfield Beach and Miami, FL yards. The Yard Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the waste staging yard or transfer station. This role ensures safe, efficient, and compliant handling of freight, oversees yard personnel activity, coordinates equipment and vehicle activity, and maintains regulatory and environmental compliance. It will also involve fixing minor damage to equipment such as broken straps on trailers, minor tears in tarps, etc. The Yard Manager will also fill in for Drivers on an as needed basis, which requires current CDL.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee daily yard activities including receiving, sorting, loading, and dispatch
• Coordinate movement of equipment to ensure efficient workflow
• Monitor incoming and outgoing work flow and maintain accurate records
• Assist with the training of drivers
• Enforce all safety policies and procedures and conduct regular inspections
• Ensure compliance with OSHA and environmental regulations
• Oversee operation and maintenance of heavy equipment
• Coordinate logistics, truck flow, and routing with transportation teams
• Maintain accurate operational records and prepare reports
• Manage inventory of supplies and equipment

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; higher education preferred
• 3–5+ years of relevant experience in waste management, logistics, or operations
• Prior supervisory experience
• Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
• Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, outdoor environment
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions with exposure to noise, dust, and waste materials
• Able to sustain physical activity, including walking, standing, and lifting for extended periods
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. as needed
• Ability to operate machinery and perform site inspections
• Current CDL

Preferred Qualifications:

• OSHA certification

• Heavy equipment operation certification

• Bilingual in English and Spanish
