Mandatory Certifications

DoD 8140/8570 Foundational: CompTIA Security+ (or equivalent)

Database Specific: EDB Postgres Certification (e.g., EDB Postgres Essentials, Advanced, or Distributed Essentials)
Key Responsibilities

Administration: Handle design, installation, configuration, and upgrades of EDB Postgres databases in a Unix/Oracle Enterprise Linux environment.

Performance: Conduct deep-dive performance tuning for both transactional and analytical workloads.

Maintenance: Manage complex backup and recovery operations using Barman and perform database migrations using Ora2pg.

Security: Utilize DoD and commercial certificates for system logins and ensure adherence to security protocols.

Optimization: Develop and maintain complex shell scripts in PL/pgSQL and Bash to automate administrative tasks.

Documentation: Maintain high-quality technical documentation and system architecture records.
Required Technical Skills

EDB Postgres: 5+ years of experience, including version 14.19 or higher.

Management Tools: Experience with PEM (Postgres Enterprise Manager) and Barman (Backup and Recovery Manager).

Migration Tools: Proven experience using Ora2pg to migrate Oracle databases to EDB Postgres.

OS/Scripting: Strong Bash shell scripting and system administration experience within Unix/Oracle Enterprise Linux.

Security: Experience implementing DoD certificates (non-self-signed) for secure authentication.
Preferred Skills & Experience

Multi-Database Expertise: Experience with MySQL 8+ and Oracle 19c+.

Replication: Hands-on experience with EDB Postgres replication.

Cloud Services: Familiarity with Amazon RDS for PostgreSQL or Azure Database for PostgreSQL.

Security Compliance: Working knowledge of DoD Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and Security Requirements Guides (SRGs).

Middleware/Auth: Experience with Apache Tomcat and Kerberos.
