Edger Operator (Entry-Level)

Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Edger Operator to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our production processes. This position requires a strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality as you will be responsible for various tasks including quality inspection, materials handling, and machine operation. If you have mechanical knowledge and expereience, we encourage you to apply. No experience necessary. We are willing to train.

General Responsibilities

• Work safely - know, understand, and follow all safety rules
• Input sawn lumber through edger to cut prescribed board lengths
• Handle, sort, and stack lumber by dimension, species and grade
• Safely maintain flow of the product
• Utilize hand tools, i.e. broom, shovel, etc. to clean up sawmill debris
• Use Forklift or skidloader to move lumber bundles and logs.
• Greasing and basic maintenance
• Cross train in other positions

• Self-motivated, resourceful, and willing to take initiative
• Ability to make decisions quickly by utilizing hand-eye coordination
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment
• Ability to learn how to get the most yield out of a board
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift 50 pounds repeatedly throughout the day
• Ability to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with body, arms, and/or legs
• Ability to exert muscle force in repeated or continuous motion for long periods
• Ability to stand for an extended period of time
• Ability to work in most weather conditions including rain, heat and cold
• Operate machinery and equipment in accordance with safety standards and operational guidelines
• Conduct quality inspections to ensure products meet specified standards
• Package finished products for shipment, ensuring proper labeling and documentation
• Engage in material handling tasks, including loading and unloading shipments
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to safety protocols at all times.
