We cover a wide range of topics including local news, regional affairs, business, culture, and lifestyle stories. As we expand our editorial operations and deepen our impact, we are seeking an experienced Editor-in-Chief to lead our newsroom and shape our editorial direction.

Job Summary:

The Editor-in-Chief will serve as the newsroom’s highest-ranking editorial lead, responsible for overseeing all content and ensuring journalistic excellence across platforms. This role demands strategic thinking, editorial sharpness, digital fluency, and a strong sense of ethics and leadership. The successful candidate will guide a team of journalists, editors, and contributors to produce impactful, high-quality journalism that informs and engages our diverse audience.

Key Responsibilities:

Editorial Leadership

  • Set and execute the editorial vision and long-term content strategy of the platforms.
  • Supervise the daily, weekly, and monthly editorial workflow, including assigning, editing, and publishing different forms of content which include but are not limited to articles, features, op-eds, multimedia content, and social media content.
  • Ensure all coverage meets high standards of accuracy, balance, integrity, and relevance.
  • Oversee development of editorial calendars and special coverage plans.
  • Oversee Doha News podcast and present it.
  • Oversee video scripts, marketing scripts, and video shoots.
  • Oversee fact-checking and ensure all stories are properly sourced and verified.


Team Management

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a diverse editorial team including journalists, editors, multimedia producers, and freelancers.
  • Recruit, train, and retain top journalistic talent.
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performance newsroom culture.

Digital Strategy

  • Oversee the platform’s digital growth through SEO-optimized content, social media storytelling, and multimedia integration.
  • Work closely with teams to enhance user experience and digital innovation.
  • Monitor analytics to refine content strategies based on audience engagement and performance.

Editorial Standards & Ethics

  • Uphold and enforce editorial guidelines and journalistic ethics.
  • Conduct regular content reviews and fact-checking.
  • Manage corrections and address editorial feedback transparently.

Public Representation & Partnerships

  • Represent the news platform in public forums, industry panels, and media events.
  • Cultivate strategic editorial partnerships and collaborations.
  • Serve as a spokesperson when required, reinforcing the organization’s credibility and values.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Journalism, Media, Communications, or related field.
  • Minimum 8–10 years of editorial experience in digital or print media, including 3+ years in a senior editorial leadership role.
  • Strong understanding of the media landscape in Qatar and the wider MENA region.
  • Proven experience managing teams and editorial operations under tight deadlines.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and communication skills.
  • Deep understanding of digital publishing tools, CMS platforms, SEO, analytics, and social media strategy.
  • Commitment to impartial journalism, editorial independence, and ethical reporting.
  • Arabic language proficiency is a strong advantage but not mandatory.
