ABOUT THE ROLE

This role is designed as a full-time W-2 position for someone looking to move into leadership roles.


We are seeking an experienced Editorial Content, Marketing Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate brings 4+ years of content management experience, showcasing a successful track record in writing for diverse industries and demonstrating advanced SEO knowledge. This role demands a versatile writer who can quickly adapt to each client’s unique brand voice, messaging, industry and business goals.


Expertise in:

  • SEO strategy and crafting lead-generating content plans
  • Dynamic content development across digital platforms
  • Managing a blend of in-house and external freelancers, technicians and SMEs
  • Align with clients’ unique branding, messaging and industry goals


RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Digital Expertise : Apply advanced SEO and technical knowledge across platforms to enhance content performance. 
  • Content Strategy : Develop and execute digital content strategies that align with client goals and drive leads for our clients. Write and edit high-quality content for blogs, web pages and email campaigns. Lead creative direction for promotional content and website strategy.
  • AI-Supported Creation : Utilize AI tools like Claude.ai , ChatGPT or Gemini to build out and maintain repositories specific to each client with supporting documents and inputs. Create and edit prompts to generate high-quality and fast-delivery content through Claude and other AI tools as necessary while providing high-touch human-centered strategy and editing to pull out real stories.
  • SEO Expertise : Review analytics to understand performance. Use that knowledge to craft content plans that will move the needle to help our clients get found and get marketing qualified leads (MQL). Have complete ability to own this process for multiple clients. Experience in one advanced SEO tool such as Moz, SEMrush or Ahrefs is required.
  • Performance Measurement : Track and analyze campaign outcomes, recommending improvements for future content strategies. 
  • Inbound Marketing : Implement inbound marketing strategies to drive traffic and lead generation. Use tools like HubSpot to boost site rankings and expand social media reach. HubSpot knowledge required, at least 1 active HubSpot certification should already be in place. 
  • Research and Strategic Insights : Deliver well-researched content, aligning with client needs and industry trends. Identify audience preferences, content gaps and strategic recommendations.
  • Team Leadership : Coordinate, assign and manage freelance writers. Mentor in-house social media and copywriters, ensuring high standards and on-time delivery.
  • Project Management : Oversee content projects from start to finish, meeting deadlines and exceeding client expectations.
  • Content Calendar : Develop comprehensive content calendars based on SEO tools and customer workshops in collaboration with cross-functional teams to align with marketing campaigns.
  • Proofreading and Quality Assurance : Conduct content audits to ensure alignment with client expectations and industry standards.

Required: 


  • Experience working in a marketing agency environment
  • Education : BA/BS in Writing, Journalism, Marketing, Business or related field.
  • Experience : 4+ years in content strategy and management, preferably in a digital marketing agency. Skilled at balancing multiple projects with hands-on experience in website development, digital marketing strategy and WordPress. 
  • Writing and Content Development : Exceptional writing and editing abilities, with a talent for adapting brand voices and integrating SEO-driven storytelling.
  • Advanced SEO Expertise : Proficient in SEO best practices and hands-on experience with tools like SEMrush, Ahrefs or Moz for conducting keyword analysis, SEO audits and performance tracking.
  • AI and Digital Marketing Savvy : Deep understanding of digital marketing, inbound marketing principles and platforms like HubSpot, with a focus on SEO, user behavior and UX design. Skilled in email and social media marketing campaigns and CRM systems. Knowledgeable in both using AI tools and aligning content to meet AEO/AI visibility goals. At least 1 HubSpot marketing-related certification should be active for the current year.
  • Client-Centric Approach : Strong client engagement skills; able to translate client needs into impactful content strategies and adapt content plans to evolving client goals.
  • Team Leadership : Proven ability to lead, mentor and manage a team of remote writers with a commitment to high-quality deliverables and timely output. We are looking for a person who wants to grow into leadership positions and who wants to grow a small nimble firm. 
  • Organizational Excellence : Highly organized, with the ability to juggle multiple projects and prioritize effectively. Naturally detail-oriented, with a structured approach to planning and a preference for proactive quality control.
  • Strong Communicator : Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a proactive and collaborative approach to client and team relationships.


Bonus Skills: 

  • Writing examples in the following industries: managed service providers, information technology, manufacturing, home builders and developers, and landscaping.
  • StoryBrand experience or classroom training is preferred.
  • Experience with Canva, SquareSpace, Constant Contact, Google Analytics or familiarity with inbound marketing methodology, content management and social media management.
  • Familiarity with using Asana as a project management tool. 
  • Knowledge of best practices to enhance user experience (UX).
