About Us

Hola Cultura is a vibrant, multifaceted nonprofit based in Washington, D.C., that celebrates the culture and contributions of Latinos in society today. We produce independent media coverage of Latino arts and culture, conduct original research and host events that showcase our diverse community. Through this work, we lift up Latino voices, break down barriers, and promote cross-cultural understanding; while at the same time, mentoring and providing professional training in digital workforce skills to Latino youth and young adults.

Hola Cultura is a proud winner of an Edward R. Murrow Regional Award for Best News Documentary!

Your Role

***While Hola Cultura is a Washington, D.C., organization, candidates do not need to be based in D.C. to be considered. Stipends are available for participants living in Washington, D.C., and Boston, Massachusetts***

We seek Editorial Interns based in the Boston-area for a hybrid internship that will combine in-person activities and remote work and meetings with Hola Cultura’s Storytelling Program for Experiential Learning (SPEL), a national publishing platform for young people between the ages of 16 and 25.

As an Editorial Intern on our first Boston-based team, you will participate in a storytelling project focusing on climate change, environmental justice and gentrification. During Tuesday story lab sessions and monthly in-person meetings, you and your team will conduct interviews and work together to produce and publish interviews, articles, podcasts or other media. The ideal candidate should have a strong interest in pursuing a career in journalism, documentary-making, podcasting or a related communications field.

  • Attendance at online meetings every Tuesday from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Eastern Time; a monthly meeting in Boston in-person and an additional 3-5 hours of remote work hours per week

  • Social media management, video and podcast production and multiplatform editing are a plus
  • A commitment to accuracy and an ability to remain objective and engage with people of all viewpoints
  • Commitment to the organization’s mission and goals

Duties and Responsibilities

With guidance from the organization's Professional Development Staff, Editors, and Editorial Fellow, Editorial Interns will:
