Job Overview

As an Editorial Intern with ROUTE, you will support the editing, proofreading, and research processes that ensure our content is accurate, engaging, and aligned with our editorial standards. This role is perfect for aspiring writers, journalists, or communication enthusiasts eager to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced media environment.

Duties

• Assist in proofreading and copy editing articles, and other written materials to ensure clarity, accuracy
• Conduct fact-checking and research to verify information and enhance the credibility of published content
• Collaborate with writers and editors to refine proposals, pitches, and story ideas
• Participate in editorial meetings to contribute ideas for new content topics and storytelling approaches
• Draft several short form features each week
• Support special projects such as technical writing or creative writing assignments as needed

Skills

• Strong proofreading and copy editing abilities with keen attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and writers
• Solid writing skills with the ability to adapt tone and style for different audiences
• Knowledge of AP style, Chicago Manual of Style, or similar editorial standards
• Experience with fact checking, research methods, and journalistic practices
• Proficiency in word processing software and content management systems
• Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high-quality output
