Bookstr is seeking book and pop culture-loving writers to join our editorial team. Expand your portfolio within the writing and literary industries through our engaging internship program geared to practical hands-on education and experience through published content written by you. Internship positions are available immediately (January start date)

At Bookstr, we’re not just having interns schlep coffee and make copies while the writing is being done by senior associates. Here, we teach our editorial interns: tone, style, SEO best practices, and how to hone their overall writing skills and make a place for themselves within the writing world. You get hands-on education from day one. Once you’ve gained an understanding of Bookstr’s style and your writing is nearly edit-free, you can gain further experience in copyediting.

  • Blog posts.

Content geared to the reading, writing, and bookish community. Hone your copywriting skills on our blog, dedicated to industry-specific topics. The best part: The byline is all yours, so you have solid work to highlight on your portfolio and socials.

Responsibilities

Editorial Interns are responsible for writing 2-3 engaging articles of varying length and style per week from quick turnaround news pieces to Op-Eds to in-depth research-filled trivia articles. Bookstr is the place to get your feet wet in the industry while also being able to talk about the book and pop culture world you love and enjoy.

Gain valuable experience working interdepartmentally with graphics, video, and social media team members.

While experience isn’t required, a resume, writing sample, and cover letter are. You will not get past the screening process without all of these.

You must be:

  • A team player
  • Have a sense of organization and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage your time well
  • Able to conduct thorough, accurate research
  • Excellent in written and verbal communication skills

This position is open to both current college students, graduates, and those seeking a career change to the literary and writing world.

This is a part-time volunteer position - College Credit available where applicable.
