Job Description:
The EDM Machinist is responsible for the setup, operation, and inspection of Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) equipment used to produce precision aerospace components. This role requires machinist-level experience, including the ability to independently interpret prints, hold tight tolerances, and troubleshoot processes.
In addition to EDM responsibilities, this position will support CNC machining operations—including mill, lathe, and grinding—based on production demand. This is not a trainee role; candidates must be capable of contributing immediately in a high-precision manufacturing environment.

Include but are not limited to:
EDM Machining (Primary)
Set up and operate EDM equipment (wire and/or sinker) to produce aerospace components to print
Select and prepare electrodes, establish offsets, and adjust burn parameters for optimal performance
Interpret complex engineering drawings, GD&T, and work instructions
Maintain tight tolerances and required surface finishes
Perform in-process and final inspections using precision measuring equipment
Troubleshoot machining issues and adjust processes to maintain quality and efficiency
CNC Machining & Shop Support (Secondary)
Support CNC mill and lathe operations (setup, operation, basic program edits, and deburring)
Assist grinding operations (OD/ID/surface) as needed
Support first article inspections and in-process quality checks
Shift between departments based on workload and production priorities
General Responsibilities
Accurately complete routers, work orders, and required documentation
Follow all quality standards in an AS9100 environment

Physical Requirements
Ability to regularly lift, carry, and move items up to 50 pounds
Comfortable working in high-temperature and industrial environments
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods of time
Exposure to machine shop conditions (coolant, oil, noise)
Skills
Strong hands-on EDM machining experience (wire and/or sinker)
Solid CNC machining fundamentals (mill and/or lathe)
Ability to independently read and interpret blueprints and GD&T
Proficient with precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, indicators, etc.)
Ability to hold tight tolerances and produce repeatable results
Troubleshooting mindset with the ability to adjust machining processes
Knowledge & Experience
Aerospace manufacturing standards and expectations (AS9100 preferred)
Material properties and behavior during EDM and machining (tool steels, nickel alloys, etc.)
Understanding of feeds, speeds, offsets, and machining parameters
Familiarity with shop floor systems (routers, work orders, inspection records)
3+ years of EDM machining experience preferred
Prior CNC machining experience (mill, lathe, or grinding) required
Aerospace or high-precision manufacturing experience strongly preferred
