Education:
Preferred: BA degree in Early Childhood Education, Human Services, Social Work, Sociology, Health, Psychology, Special Education or related field with previous experience in working with families. Previous experience in technology is a plus.
Minimum: AA plus the one-year working experience in Early Childhood Education, Human Services, Social Services, or community-based programming.
* Related degrees must include coursework equivalent to a major relating to early childhood education, and college transcripts must be submitted to determine relevance. Unrelated degrees must obtain credential or certification within 18 months of hire.
Experience:
- Strong computer literacy using Apple IOS, Windows, Microsoft Office, Google, and Gmail.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Intermediate knowledge of technology
- Ability to compute numbers and percentages, interpret data, and develop graphs.
- Ability to be sensitive, respectful, and accepting of all families.

- This position is responsible for coordinating the delivery of the agency’s education.
- Must perform the functions of this position with a strong understanding of the HS Performance Standards, TDFPS Minimum Standards for child care centers and the component plans; Head Start child development outcomes; and thorough knowledge and application of Developmentally Appropriate Practices;
- Supervises other employees per the agency’s organization chart.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the supervision of the Education, Health & Family Services Manager (EHFSM), the Education Services Coordinator shall be responsible for
General Responsibilities & Duties
- Attend staff training and meetings and parent meetings as requested;
- Design and deliver training to staff when directed.
- Produces quality work, taking the initiative to complete duties with minimal supervision. Meets expectations and deadlines, asking for clarification and guidance as needed.

Education Services Responsibilities & Duties
- Maintains CLASS certification.
- In collaboration with Executive Assistant and under the direction of the Education, Health & Family Services Manager, deliver pre-service and in-service training to teaching staff;
- Monitor the implementation of the approved curricula in the classroom for fidelity;
- Supervise all classroom practices - room arrangement, lesson plans, daily schedules, routines, and transitions to assure their adherence to program policies;
- Carry out recommendations of the EHFSM for program improvement;
- Support the EHFSM with observations and coaching, mentoring, and technical assistance on effective teacher-child interactions, effective social-emotional practices, child observations, curriculum fidelity, individualization, and responsive learning environments to help teaching staff promote healthy social-emotional development in children and meet the needs of children with disabilities, special needs, mental health services, and behavioral intervention.
- Conduct ongoing inventories of practice to measure teacher-child interactions and quality learning environments and implement teaching practices with fidelity that promote healthy social-emotional development and prevent challenging behaviors.
- Effectively applies strategies that achieve program outcomes through an integrated approach for children and families while utilizing cohesive curriculum plans that include HSELOF domain components, support agency School Readiness goals, and promote positive child outcomes.
- Maintains effective processes of education, disabilities, and mental health services delivery. Assist with entering, reconciling, monitoring, and analyzing program data. Generate timely reports to measure the quality of services, compliance, and child and program outcomes.
- Authorizes, advocates, nurtures, and sustains an optimal learning environment through early prevention, prompt intervention, and evaluation of processes and service outcomes.
- Supervise children's assessment, including weekly observations in each area, examples of the child's work, developmental assessments, and children's assessment data entry and outcome reports;
- Supervise that home visits and parent conferences are done per requirements and that they are used to discuss the child's individual development and progress, assisting the parents in developing observational skills and soliciting parent observations;
- Collaborate with the Family & Community Engagement Coordinator in implementing the at-home-learning activities and and language/literacy program;
- Identify and prioritize materials and equipment needed in classrooms and playgrounds, and coordinate with EHFSM & Executive Director in making purchases;
- Lead responsibility to assist with parent involvement in education services as per HS requirements;
- Collaborate with the Disability & Mental Health Coordinator in the transition of children to Kindergarten, and assist with the children's transition to their next destination at the end of the season.
- Work cooperatively with other component coordinators to plan education services integrated with health, mental health, dental health, nutrition, parent involvement, and social services;
- Assist individual staff members in identifying their training needs, and improving their knowledge and abilities;
- Assist in recruiting volunteers, providing them with guidance as needed;
- Assure that files and documentation are complete, accurate, and confidentiality maintained;
- Stay abreast of all special education laws (IDEA Part C and Part B, ADA, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act), Head Start Performance Standards, and other applicable federal and state regulations and the implications of these laws for Head Start/Early Head Start programs.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be at least 21 years old
- Must be able to pass all criminal background checks
- Must have a valid driver’s license to be placed on agency insurance and drive agency vehicles.
- Within 30 days of employment, must be Pediatric CPR & First Aid certified and have a clear TB skin test
- Must be a steady, reliable worker
- Must be able to perform simple tasks independently after given specific instructions
- Must display strong written and verbal skills. Bilingual English/Spanish highly desired
- Intermediate computer skills, including Microsoft Office, internet use, data entry, and email.

PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be able to lift, bend, stoop, climb, reach, crouch, stand for several hours, walk short distances and reach heights
- Vision sufficient for supervision of children
- Must have sufficient strength and manual skill to lift children
- Ability to prioritize, organize, problem-solve and effectively handle multiple tasks.
- Ability to accurately transcribe verbal communications to written format.
- Daily is sitting at a computer workstation for long periods, frequently standing to operate various office equipment.
- Must obtain a work physical within 90 days of employment and an annual physical after that.
