Education Support Staff
Position Overview
The Education Support Staff position is responsible for assisting students with academic engagement, classroom participation, homework support, social development, and daily educational activities across all program sites. This role works closely with the Academic Coordinator, Tutors, Program Coordinators, Disability Coordinators, and families to ensure students receive consistent educational and behavioral support in a safe and structured environment.
Education Support Staff play a vital role in helping students build confidence, independence, organization, communication skills, and positive academic habits while supporting the overall success of the program.
Key Responsibilities Student Academic Support
- Assist students with homework, assignments, projects, and study skills.
- Provide one-on-one and small group academic support.
- Help reinforce lessons, tutoring plans, and academic interventions developed by educational staff.
- Encourage student participation, focus, organization, and classroom engagement.
- Support students with reading, writing, math, and executive functioning skills.
- Monitor student progress and report concerns to leadership staff.
Behavioral & Emotional Support
- Help maintain a positive, structured, and supportive learning environment.
- Assist students with emotional regulation, communication, and problem-solving.
- Support behavior intervention plans and positive reinforcement systems.
- Encourage respectful interactions and positive peer relationships.
- Assist students during transitions, breaks, and group activities.
- Support students with disabilities and accommodations as directed by leadership staff.
Program Support
- Assist with classroom setup, educational materials, and activity preparation.
- Supervise students during program activities, community outings, and transitions.
- Help maintain accurate attendance and student documentation.
- Support enrichment activities, life skills activities, and educational events.
- Communicate professionally with staff, families, and school personnel when necessary.
- Follow all organizational policies, safety procedures, and confidentiality standards.
Team Collaboration
- Work collaboratively with Tutors, Academic Coordinators, Program Coordinators, and Disability Coordinators.
- Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and professional development.
- Assist leadership staff in implementing student support plans and academic goals.
- Maintain professionalism and positive communication within the workplace.
Qualifications Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Experience working with children, adolescents, or young adults preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in team-oriented educational environments.
- Ability to remain calm, patient, and supportive in challenging situations.
- Basic understanding of student support and educational environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate’s Degree or coursework in Education, Psychology, Human Services, Child Development, or related field.
- Experience working with students with disabilities, behavioral challenges, or academic intervention programs.
- Experience in tutoring, mentoring, after-school programming, or youth services.
- CPR/First Aid Certification preferred.

Salary Range
Estimated salary range based on experience, certifications, education, and responsibilities:
- Entry Level: $16 – $19 per hour
- Experienced Staff: $20 – $24 per hour
- Senior/Highly Experienced Staff: $25+ per hour

Education Support Staff work collaboratively with all educational and support departments across program locations.

Pay: $16.00 - $26.00 per hour
