The Educational Specialist II - Student Support plays a critical role in promoting a safe and supportive learning environment across the district. This position is responsible for facilitating student conferences that have been escalated to the district office due to safety concerns, especially when conflicts remain unresolved at the school level. In these conferences, the Ed Specialist II-Student Support collaborates with all stakeholders to mediate conflicts, address issues, and develop actionable plans that enable students to return to school safely and positively, ensuring the well-being of both individual students and the broader school community.
Beyond direct mediation conferences, the Ed Specialist II-Student Support provides ongoing training, technical support, and practical tools to schools, empowering school-based teams to independently implement effective safety and restorative conferences. The Ed Specialist II-Student Support also supports smooth transitions for students returning from disciplinary actions or suspensions, helping them reintegrate into the classroom in a constructive manner. This work directly impacts students and families, while also indirectly improving attendance, decreasing suspensions, advancing a whole-child approach to discipline, and diverting scholars from entering the school-to-prison pipeline.
The Ed Specialist II-Student Support supports the development, implementation, and progress monitoring of strategic initiatives, programs, and activities under the Diversion program umbrella. Additionally, this position provides assessment support, professional development, and coaching to district staff, schools, and partners on systems and structures that enable the successful implementation of diversion. Central to this role is a commitment to nurturing student wholeness, building restorative relationships, and amplifying student voice and agency. The Ed Specialist II-Student Support approaches each situation with empathy, equity, and a focus on restorative practices that foster a positive and inclusive school climate.

In accordance with Maryland law, City School is required to share the position salary ranges in its entirety. Please note, this is not the hiring range. The hiring range for this position is ($94,735 - 142,846).
