Job Title: EEG Technician

Qualifications
Education:
- Diploma or Degree in Neurotechnology, EEG Technology, Medical Laboratory Technology (with EEG training), or a related allied health field.
- Valid Paramedical Council Registration is mandatory.
Skills:
- Proficiency in performing EEG procedures and handling neurodiagnostic equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in electrode placement and signal monitoring.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Knowledge of neurophysiology and brain wave patterns.
- Understanding of patient safety, infection control, and healthcare regulations.
- Good communication and patient-handling skills.
Key ResponsibilitiesPatient Preparation & Procedure Setup:
- Prepare patients for EEG procedures by explaining the test and ensuring comfort and cooperation.
- Measure and mark electrode placement accurately according to standard EEG protocols.
- Apply electrodes using conductive paste/gel and ensure optimal signal quality.
Conducting EEG Tests:
- Perform routine and specialized EEG recordings as prescribed by neurologists.
- Operate EEG machines and related neurodiagnostic equipment efficiently.
- Monitor recordings during the procedure to identify artifacts or abnormalities.
- Conduct activation procedures such as hyperventilation, photic stimulation, or sleep EEGs as required.
Data Recording & Reporting:
- Accurately document EEG recordings and patient details in logs or computerized systems.
- Label, store, and maintain EEG data securely for physician review.
- Assist neurologists in interpreting EEG results by providing technical observations.
Equipment Maintenance:
- Clean, disinfect, and maintain EEG equipment and electrodes after each procedure.
- Perform routine equipment checks, calibration, and report technical issues promptly.
- Ensure EEG machines are functioning optimally at all times.
Safety & Compliance:
- Adhere to infection control protocols and maintain a clean, safe testing environment.
- Follow hospital policies, ethical standards, and regulatory guidelines.
- Ensure patient privacy and confidentiality at all times.
Inventory Management:
- Monitor and maintain EEG consumables such as electrodes, gels, and disposables.
- Request replenishment of supplies to ensure uninterrupted services.
Collaboration & Communication:
- Work closely with neurologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
- Communicate patient observations, procedural issues, and test completion status effectively.
