Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) to join our vibrant dental team on a full-time basis, with additional temporary positions available to cover maternity leave. Duties
- Assist dentists during various procedures including restorations, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry with precision and confidence.
- Perform chairside assisting duties such as preparing treatment rooms, sterilizing instruments using aseptic techniques, and managing dental materials efficiently.
- Take and develop X-rays and medical imaging while adhering to infection control protocols and maintaining patient safety.
- Manage patient records accurately within Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Measure vital signs and assess patient anatomy to support comprehensive care delivery.
- Support the dental team by managing medical documentation, coding procedures appropriately, and maintaining organized medical records.
- Utilize advanced technology including 3D scanners and digital imaging tools to enhance diagnostic accuracy and treatment planning.
- Collaborate seamlessly with the dental receptionist to coordinate patient scheduling, insurance processing, and administrative tasks.
- Uphold strict infection control standards and maintain a clean, safe clinical environment in accordance with OSHA guidelines.
Experience
- Proven experience as a Dental Assistant or EFDA in a busy dental clinic setting with familiarity in general dentistry procedures.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques.
- Experience working with Open Dental PMS is a plus.
- Skilled in chairside assisting for diverse dental specialties including prosthodontics, endodontics, pediatric dentistry, and implant procedures.
- Ability to take high-quality X-rays and operate digital imaging equipment confidently.
- Excellent communication skills as a dental assistant and team player who thrives in fast-paced environments supporting pediatric patients when needed.
