Position Objective
To lead and manage the technical operations of the Elevator Inspection Division, ensuring all inspection activities for lifts, escalators, and vertical transportation equipment comply with EIAC requirements, ISO/IEC 17020:2012, local regulatory standards, and client-specific obligations. The Technical Manager is responsible for maintaining technical competence, approving inspection procedures, supporting accreditation, and ensuring the integrity and impartiality of all inspection outcomes.
Key Responsibilities1. Technical Leadership & Management
- Provide technical direction for all elevator and escalator inspection activities.
- Ensure inspectors are trained, competent, and assigned according to EIAC competency requirements.
- Review and approve inspection reports, checklists, risk assessments, and technical documents.
- Lead investigations of technical issues, non-conformities, and client escalations.
2. Accreditation & Compliance (EIAC / ISO 17020)
- Maintain compliance with EIAC accreditation requirements under ISO/IEC 17020 for the elevator inspection scope.
- Ensure implementation of EIAC Technical Requirements, Field-Specific Inspection Requirements, and EIAC circulars.
- Participate in EIAC assessments, address NCs, and oversee closure of corrective actions.
- Continuously update procedures to reflect new EIAC or local authority regulations.
3. Inspection Operations Oversight
- Supervise and support inspectors during periodic, initial, and major inspection activities.
- Approve inspection methods and ensure compliance with standards such as:
- EN 81-20/50
- EN 115
- BS, ASME, EN, and UAE Code of Practice.
4. Quality & Risk Management
- Ensure all inspection activities uphold impartiality, independence, and integrity.
- Review and enforce technical procedures, work instructions, and competency matrices.
- Conduct technical internal audits and participate in Management Review Meetings.
- Lead performance evaluations of inspection staff.
6. Documentation & Reporting
- Approve technical documentation including SOPs, WIs, checklists, and inspection templates.
- Ensure timely issuance of certificates, findings, and reports that meet EIAC and client expectations.
- Maintain technical records, logbooks, and inspector competence files.
Qualifications & ExperienceEducation
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics Engineering (mandatory).
Experience
- Minimum 7–10 years experience in elevator/escalator inspection.
- Minimum 5 years in a Third-Party Inspection Body.
- Proven experience working with EIAC accreditation requirements for elevator inspection.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of EN, BS, ASME, and UAE elevator safety standards.
- Excellent understanding of EIAC accreditation processes and technical requirements.
- Ability to lead teams and evaluate technical competencies.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent report writing and documentation skills.
- High level of integrity and commitment to impartiality.
- Have valid UAE driver License.
