ELA Interventionist

Position Overview
College Achieve Public Schools is seeking a dedicated and student-centered ELA Interventionist for a middle school to provide targeted support for students who need additional instruction in reading. The ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise in reading development and intervention, and a passion for helping students build foundational literacy skills. This role is critical to ensuring that every scholar has the tools to succeed academically and thrive in a rigorous college-preparatory environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Observe and assess students in various instructional settings to evaluate reading abilities and instructional needs
- Conduct diagnostic assessments and analyze data to inform instruction and intervention strategies
- Design and implement individualized and small group intervention plans to support reading comprehension, phonics, fluency, and vocabulary
- Use evidence-based instructional strategies aligned with the Science of Reading and other best practices
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, special education staff, and administrators to align interventions with classroom instruction and goals
- Communicate student progress regularly with teachers, families, and administrators
- Provide one-on-one tutoring and small-group instruction as needed
- Facilitate group lessons for students with similar instructional needs
- Create engaging learning activities and materials tailored to diverse learners
- Support classroom instruction by modeling effective literacy strategies and coaching staff as needed
- Maintain accurate student records and progress monitoring documentation
- Participate in all professional development sessions and contribute to a collaborative school culture
- Perform additional duties as assigned by school leadership
Required Qualifications
- Valid New Jersey K–6 Certification
- Reading Specialist/Reading Certification preferred
- Minimum of three years of job-related experience, such as classroom teaching or reading intervention
- Demonstrated knowledge of reading assessment tools and intervention programs
- Familiarity with structured literacy practices and differentiated instruction
- Must pass a criminal history background check and meet all state employment requirements
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $60,000–$80,000, based on experience

Evaluation
ELA Interventionists are evaluated annually based on student outcomes, instructional effectiveness, collaboration, and alignment with school and state literacy goals.
