Our client, a globally recognized leader in industrial automation, electrification, and digitalization solutions, is currently expanding its project team in Kuwait. Known for delivering advanced and reliable engineering solutions across infrastructure, utilities, and industrial sectors, the client is seeking to strengthen its Automation & Telemetry Design function. As part of this initiative, the client is looking to hire two qualified professionals for the role of Electrical, Communication Network, and Telemetry CAD Draftsman on a long-term contractual basis.

Role Overview
We are seeking two skilled Electrical, Communication Network, and Telemetry CAD Draftsmen to join our client’s Automation & Telemetry Design team. The role involves translating complex electrical, communication, and telemetry system designs into accurate technical drawings, ensuring compliance with industry standards and supporting efficient implementation and long-term operation of remote monitoring and control systems.

Key Responsibilities

As an Electrical, Communication Network, and Telemetry CAD Draftsman, you will be responsible for a wide range of critical tasks, including:

• Telemetry System Drafting: Preparing detailed schematics and layouts for RTUs, PLCs, data loggers, sensors, and instrumentation used in telemetry systems.
• Electrical Design for Remote Sites: Developing accurate electrical schematics, power distribution diagrams (including solar and battery backup systems), and control panel layouts for remote and unmanned telemetry stations.
• Communication Network Layouts: Creating detailed communication network drawings for telemetry data transmission, including:
• Design of communication equipment cubicles
• Network infrastructure layouts, rack elevations, and connectivity diagrams for SCADA and control rooms
• Interpreting Engineering Designs: Working closely with telemetry engineers, network architects, and system integrators to understand design requirements and translate specifications into precise technical drawings.
• Ensuring Compliance: Ensuring all drawings comply with applicable electrical codes (IEC, NEC, NEMA), communication standards (TIA/EIA, BICSI), industrial protocols (Modbus, DNP3, OPC UA), and internal drafting standards.
• Maintaining Documentation: Managing and maintaining an organized, up-to-date repository of drawings, revisions, and complete project documentation.
• Performing Revisions: Updating drawings based on red-line markups, design changes, and as-built information, incorporating field feedback accurately and efficiently.
• Bill of Materials (BOM): Supporting the preparation and verification of BOMs for electrical, communication, and telemetry components.
• Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration: Coordinating effectively with other engineering disciplines to ensure smooth integration of telemetry designs within overall project requirements.
• Quality Assurance: Conducting self-checks and peer reviews to ensure drawing accuracy, completeness, and compliance with drafting standards and project specifications.
• Problem Solving: Identifying and resolving drawing discrepancies and design issues in collaboration with engineers and technical specialists.
• Continuous Improvement: Keeping up to date with advancements in CAD tools, drafting methodologies, and industry best practices related to electrical, communication, and telemetry systems.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree or Technical Diploma in Electrical Drafting, Electrical Engineering Technology, Telecommunications, Industrial Automation, or a related field.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electronics & Communication Engineering is considered an advantage.

Experience

• 3–5 years of experience as a CAD Draftsman with strong exposure to electrical, communication network, and telemetry systems.
• Hands-on experience in drafting and design for:
• SCADA/DCS systems, RTUs, PLCs, and industrial instrumentation
• Remote data acquisition and control systems
• Wireless communication systems (radio, cellular, satellite)
• Power solutions for remote sites (48VDC systems, UPS)
• Industry experience in utilities, oil & gas, environmental monitoring, smart cities, or transportation is highly preferred.

Technical Skills

• CAD Expertise: Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, SolidWorks Electrical, or similar tools.
• Network & Telemetry Tools: Experience with drafting network diagrams using AutoCAD, Visio, or specialized software; familiarity with SCADA/HMI graphical layouts is a plus.
• Electrical Knowledge: Strong understanding of electrical circuits, symbols, wiring practices, power distribution, and low-voltage control systems.
• Communication Networks: Solid knowledge of network topologies, structured cabling (Cat 5e/6/6A, fiber optics), IP networking fundamentals, and wireless communication technologies (UHF/VHF, 4G/5G, satellite).
• Telemetry & Industrial Protocols: Familiarity with IEC 104, Modbus (RTU/TCP), DNP3, OPC UA, and other SCADA/PLC communication protocols.
• Instrumentation Knowledge: Basic understanding of sensors, signal conditioning, and instrumentation wiring.
• Drawing Interpretation: Ability to interpret electrical schematics, network diagrams, P&IDs, and technical documentation.
• Microsoft Office: Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Standards Knowledge: Awareness of international electrical standards (IEC 60617, ANSI/IEEE, NFPA 70), communication standards (TIA/EIA-568, TIA/EIA-569, BICSI TDMM), and industrial automation guidelines.
