Electrical Control Specialist

Position Summary
Chapman Electrical Contracting, Inc. is seeking an experienced Electrical Control Specialist to support and execute advanced industrial electrical and control‑system projects. This role requires strong technical expertise in industrial controls, instrumentation, automation systems, and troubleshooting. The ideal candidate will bring multiple years of hands‑on experience and a commitment to delivering high‑quality, reliable work in demanding industrial environments.
Primary Responsibilities
- Industrial Control Systems — Install, maintain, and troubleshoot PLCs, VFDs, motor controls, instrumentation, and automation components.
- System Diagnostics — Perform advanced diagnostics on control circuits, communication networks, and industrial equipment.
- Technical Documentation — Interpret and update electrical schematics, control diagrams, P&IDs, and panel layouts.
- Commissioning & Testing — Assist with system start‑ups, functional testing, calibration, and verification of control equipment.
- Preventive Maintenance — Conduct routine inspections and maintenance to ensure system reliability and minimize downtime.
- Collaboration & Support — Work closely with project managers, engineers, and field crews to support project execution and resolve technical issues.
- Safety Compliance — Adhere to OSHA, NEC, and company safety standards at all times.
Minimum Qualifications
- Multiple years of experience in industrial electrical and control systems.
- Proficiency with PLCs, VFDs, motor control centers, and industrial automation equipment.
- Strong ability to read and interpret electrical and control schematics.
- Demonstrated troubleshooting skills in complex industrial environments.
- Excellent communication, organization, and problem‑solving abilities.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Allen‑Bradley, Siemens, or similar PLC platforms.
- Knowledge of industrial networking (EtherNet/IP, Modbus, Profibus, etc.).
- Background in instrumentation calibration and loop checks.
- Journeyman Electrician certification or equivalent technical training.
