Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Designer to join our engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing detailed electrical system designs, creating schematics, and supporting system integration projects. Candidates should possess strong electrical engineering expertise, mechanical knowledge, and experience with system design to contribute effectively to our multidisciplinary teams.
Duties
- Develop and review electrical schematics and system diagrams using AutoCAD, Revit, MicroStation, and SolidWorks.
- Design and simulate electrical systems employing MATLAB, Simulink, and Python for system analysis and optimisation.
- Create detailed layouts for surface mount technology (SMT) components and circuitry.
- Utilise CAD tools to produce accurate drawings for manufacturing and assembly processes.
- Conduct root cause analysis on electrical faults using signal processing techniques and debugging tools.
- Collaborate with mechanical engineers to integrate electrical systems within mechanical assemblies, ensuring compatibility with ARM microcontrollers and programmable logic controllers (PLCs).
- Support firmware development and debugging using C++, Perl, and other scripting languages such as Perl.
- Assist in the realisation of system design by selecting appropriate components, including surface mount devices (SMD), sensors, and microcontrollers.
- Perform soldering, testing, and troubleshooting of electronic assemblies; apply surface mount technology techniques where necessary.
- Analyse electrical performance data to optimise system reliability and efficiency.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of designs, modifications, and test procedures in accordance with industry standards.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in electrical engineering design with a strong background in system design principles.
- Proficiency in CAD software including AutoCAD, Revit, MicroStation, and SolidWorks.
- Experience with simulation tools such as MATLAB, Simulink, and Python for analysis purposes.
- Familiarity with Schematics creation, PCB layout design, and surface mount technology (SMT).
- Knowledge of programmable logic controllers (PLCs), ARM microcontrollers, firmware development, and debugging techniques.
- Mechanical knowledge relevant to electromechanical integration is desirable.
- Skills in signal processing, debugging electronic circuits, soldering (including surface mount components), and working with electronic test equipment.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to perform root cause analysis efficiently.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
