Job Description:
Cimarron is seeking Electrical Designers to provide design support for the Engineering and Manufacturing Development (EMD) phase of the Sentinel (formerly GBSD) program in Ogden, UT. Cimarron provides engineering and technical support to Bechtel for the design, construction, and integration of the Sentinel launch infrastructure at locations to include Vandenberg AFB, CA, F.E. Warren AFB, WY, Malmstrom AFB, MT, and Minot AFB, ND. Sentinel is a vital US Air Force program that will recapitalize the nation's aging ground based leg of the nuclear triad - the Minuteman III Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM). This is an onsite position that offers a 9X80 work schedule (i.e., every other Friday off), paid overtime, and a great work/life balance. For candidates not local to the Ogden area, a relocation allowance can be provided.

Key Duties:

  • Prepare 3D electrical designs using SmartPlant 3D and develop 2D designs using AutoCAD and SmartSketch for DOD and USAF infrastructure projects.
  • Support the development of electrical systems and equipment models and drawings for the Sentinel program.
  • Model electrical rooms, equipment, cable trays, conduit systems, lighting, receptacles, and related infrastructure in a SmartPlant 3D environment.
  • Create installation details and bill of materials for electrical components using SmartSketch and AutoCAD.
  • Perform lighting and ground grid layout calculations using AGI 32 and ETAP.
  • Assist with 3D model coordination and interference resolution across technical disciplines.
  • Support the production of physical layout drawings including conduit/cable tray/duct bank raceways, equipment locations, lighting, grounding, and lightning protection.
  • Develop material specifications using SpecsIntact software.
  • Collaborate with systems engineering to confirm design and project requirements.
  • Apply proven industry and company standards to ensure compliance with codes, regulations, and design best practices.
  • Mentor, support, and train less experienced designers.
  • Produce physical layout drawings including conduit/cable tray/duct bank raceways, equipment locations, lighting, grounding, and lightning protection.

Required Skills, Experience, and Education:

  • Due to facility security requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for consideration at this time.
  • Ability to obtain an Active Secret clearance.
  • Ability to complete a pre-employment background check and drug screening, which will include but is not limited to testing for marijuana use.
  • This position requires access to federal facilities. Candidates must possess a valid, unexpired Real ID-compliant driver's license or state-issued identification card at the time of hire. If you are unsure whether your ID is Real ID-compliant, please check for the star symbol in the upper portion of your driver's license or state ID.
  • 5 or more years of experience.
  • Proficient with a 3D CAD tool for electrical design.
  • Knowledge and application of NEC, NEMA, ANSI, and IEEE standards.
  • Experience using electronic Cable Management Systems, such as SETROUTE.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, schematics, and layouts.
  • Experience preparing electrical drawings for nuclear, industrial, data center, or utility plant projects.
  • Familiarity with Bechtel corporate guides, standards, and engineering deliverables.
  • Ability to effectively use engineering and office automation tools.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and conflicting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work well across disciplines.
  • Strong organizational skills and a proactive, problem-solving attitude.
  • Ability to resolve design issues independently and in coordination with other disciplines and stakeholders.
  • Experience with DoD, DoE, USACE, NAVFAC, USAF, or NASA projects.
  • Familiarity with ISO-9000 or similar quality assurance procedures.
  • Experience modeling piping, HVAC, and mechanical equipment in a SmartPlant 3D environment.
  • High School diploma or equivalent and 9 or more years of experience, or Associate degree.

Desired Skills, Experience, and Education:

  • Experience with SmartPlant 3D and SmartSketch for electrical designs.
  • Active Secret Clearance.

Base Pay: $95,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
