An electrical engineer designs, develops, tests, and maintains electrical systems, equipment, and components, from large-scale power grids to small electronic devices like smartphones. Their responsibilities include performing calculations, conducting research, ensuring safety and regulatory compliance, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to bring projects from concept to production and beyond. Core responsibilities

  • Design and development: Create new electrical systems, equipment, and components, such as motors, power generation equipment, and electronic devices.
  • Testing and maintenance: Inspect and test electrical and electronic equipment to ensure reliability and safety, and develop maintenance procedures.
  • Research and analysis: Conduct research for new applications, perform detailed calculations, and analyze system requirements, capacity, and cost.
  • Project management: Work on projects from concept to manufacturing, managing technical, regulatory, and safety aspects to ensure they are completed on time and within budget.
  • Compliance: Ensure all designs and products meet relevant safety standards and engineering codes.
  • Collaboration: Work with other engineers, project managers, and cross-functional teams to achieve project goals.
