The Surface team is hiring an Electrical Engineer II to focus on electrical design and technology development for next generation of Surface products that enable AI in edge computing.
As an Electrical Engineer II, you will work cross-functionally with different disciplines (Industrial Design, Mechanical, Electrical, Thermal, Software and Firmware) to develop compelling innovative products. You will design and develop circuits, select key strategic components and that encompasses the entire product.

Develop Schematics and bill of materials (BOM) to meet the design requirements.

Create motherboard floorplan and layout in collaboration with teams including the Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, and Thermal teams.

Design, build, and test rapid prototypes for evaluation of new product ideas or technology concepts.

Create design documentation, develop schematics, board layout to meet system design requirements.

Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to optimize the overall system of the product from concept to completion.

Use simulation and lab measurement data to support design troubleshooting and propose corrective actions, drive failure analysis, root cause analysis, and design of experiments to resolve issues.

Work with suppliers, contractors, and engineering services to ensure that the product is developed on time with high quality.

Required Qualifications:

Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 1+ year(s) technical engineering experience
- OR Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience
- OR equivalent experience.

Foundational understanding of electrical engineering fundamentals, and working with printed circuit board (PCB) materials, flex design and PCB and flexible printed circuit (FPC) manufacturing processes.

Proven experience problem solving and debugging with a solid understanding of core engineering principles, and fundamental circuit design and analytical techniques.
Preferred Qualifications:
Electrical Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $100,600 - $199,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $131,400 - $215,400 per year.
