Electrical Engineer/PLC Controls

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Develop, program, and troubleshoot PLC control systems (Allen-Bradley / Siemens) for automated manufacturing equipment
  • Support electrical system design, including control panels, field devices, and network architecture
  • Integrate and commission paint shop systems, conveyors, and material handling equipment
  • Modify and optimize PLC logic, HMI/SCADA interfaces, and system communications
  • Support equipment installation, startup, and commissioning at customer sites
  • Perform I/O checks, loop checks, and system validation testing
  • Lead and support debugging and root cause analysis during production trials
  • Collaborate with mechanical, process, and project teams to ensure system performance and delivery timelines
  • Interface with vendors, subcontractors, and customers during project execution
  • Support factory acceptance tests (FAT) and site acceptance tests (SAT)
  • Ensure compliance with electrical codes, safety standards, and customer specifications

Work Environment

  • Based in Greer, SC with project-based travel (up to 50%)
  • Work across automotive plants, paint shops, and industrial manufacturing facilities
    • Ability to support extended hours, weekends, and shutdown schedules

What You Bring (Required)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 3+ years of experience with PLC programming (Allen-Bradley and/or Siemens)
  • Experience supporting industrial automation systems, conveyors, or process equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, and control drawings
  • Hands-on experience with installation, commissioning, and startup support
  • Familiarity with industrial communication protocols (EtherNet/IP, Profinet, etc.)
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in a live production environment
  • Willingness to travel extensively and support on-site project work

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with automotive paint systems (E-coat, Sealer, Topcoat, etc.)
  • HMI/SCADA experience (FactoryTalk, WinCC, Ignition, etc.)
  • Knowledge of robot integration (Fanuc, ABB, KUKA)
  • Experience with safety PLCs and standards (ISO 13849, ANSI B11)
  • Exposure to MES/SCADA integration and data systems
  • Previous experience working with OEMs or system integrators
