The Electrical Estimator will be an experienced and detail-driven professional, responsible for producing accurate and competitive cost estimates for Electrical projects. They will play a key role in supporting the tendering process, ensuring pricing reflects both client requirements and business profitability.
The role will involve analysing drawings, specifications, and tender documentation, preparing detailed cost breakdowns, engaging with suppliers and subcontractors, and supporting the pre-construction team with accurate pricing data.
The Electrical Estimator will require strong commercial awareness, excellent analytical skills, and a solid technical knowledge of Electrical building services.
Key Responsibilities
Estimating & Tendering
- Analyse drawings, specifications, and project documents to prepare accurate Electrical estimates.
- Prepare bills of quantities, schedules, and cost breakdowns for submission.
- Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain quotations, negotiate pricing, and assess best value.
- Identify potential risks, exclusions, and value engineering opportunities within tenders.
- Submit tenders on time, ensuring all documentation is accurate and compliant.
Collaboration & Support
- Work closely with project managers, engineers, and procurement teams to ensure estimates align with project delivery strategies.
- Provide cost advice during early project stages to support feasibility and design decisions.
- Attend pre- and post-tender meetings as required.
Commercial & Financial Management
- Maintain accurate records of tenders, supplier quotations, and pricing databases.
- Ensure estimates reflect true market costs and maintain competitiveness without compromising quality.
- Support the commercial team with handover of successful tenders for project delivery.
Compliance & Standards
- Ensure all estimating activities comply with company policies, procedures, and industry standards.
- Stay up to date with market trends, material costs, and Electrical industry developments.
Key Skills and Core Competencies
- Proven experience as a Electrical Estimator within commercial, industrial, or facilities environments.
- Strong technical knowledge of Electrical systems and building services (HVAC, plumbing, heating, ventilation).
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Strong commercial awareness with experience in cost analysis and value engineering.
- Excellent numeracy, analytical, and IT skills (estimating software, Excel, MS Office).
- Strong communication and negotiation skills for engaging with suppliers, clients, and internal teams.
- Ability to work to tight deadlines and manage multiple tenders simultaneously.
- Proactive problem solver with a keen eye for detail.
Work Environment
- Primarily office-based role with occasional site visits as required.
- Flexibility to attend supplier meetings, client briefings, and project sites when necessary
Salary dependant on experience
Pay: £25,121.39-£63,564.50 per year
