Position Summary:
An Electrical Panel Wiring Technician is responsible for assembling, wiring, and testing electrical control panels and related components according to engineering drawings, schematics, and industry standards. This role ensures that all panels are built safely, accurately, and efficiently to meet customer and project specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Panel Assembly & Wiring
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, layout drawings, and bill of materials.
- Assemble control panels, junction boxes, and enclosures.
- Route, cut, strip, crimp, and terminate wires according to specifications.
- Mount components such as breakers, relays, PLCs, contactors, terminal blocks, VFDs, and power supplies.
- Label wires, components, and enclosures as required.
2. Testing & Quality Control
- Perform continuity checks, insulation resistance tests, and functional tests.
- Verify correct wiring and connection of electrical components.
- Troubleshoot wiring errors, faulty components, and assembly issues.
- Ensure all work meets company quality standards and electrical codes.
3. Safety & Compliance
- Follow electrical safety procedures and best practices.
- Comply with relevant standards (e.g., IEC, NEC, UL, or company-specific standards).
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
4. Documentation & Reporting
- Document wiring changes, test results, and reworks.
- Report material shortages, design issues, or engineering discrepancies.
- Collaborate with design engineers, supervisors, and production staff.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Strong ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams and schematics.
- Proficiency in wiring techniques (termination, crimping, cable routing, etc.).
- Basic understanding of electrical control systems and components.
- Experience using hand tools and electrical testing instruments (multimeters, continuity testers, etc.).
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet project deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Technical diploma or certification in Electrical Technology or a related field.
- Experience with industrial control panels, automation systems, or PLC wiring.
- Familiarity with UL 508A panel building standards (if applicable).
- 2–5 years of relevant experience.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, bend, and lift components up to 25–50 lbs.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing or workshop environment.
